Hello !
Just bought my first vintage watch, an omega seamaster deville !
Made (I think) a good deal on it cause I exchanged an old quartz rado + add a few euros (the total is around 800€).

The thing is, the seller had a cheking made before I got it, but didn't have the serial number written. The front case is gold (14k ?) according to the seller. It's a front opening so I don't want to open it myself. So, I call for your wisdom. Can you help me identify the model of this watch so I know when it was made, etc.

Also, there is no omega symbol on the crown. Is it a replacement, or some crowns were made without it ?

It’s a gold plated seamaster DeVille from the late 60’s in what looks like gold cap/gold plate, not solid gold. Possibly ref 166.020 or US cased equivalent. It has damage to the dial and the wrong crown.

Unfortunately I’d say the value is around £250-280. No where near €800.

The scratches don't let appear anything but gold, another watchmaker in my city told me it's probably solid gold.

Are you sure about the pricing ? I can see many with this reference around 1200/1300€ online ?
I can probably still back off so I'd better be sure.

I believe it’s gold cap lugs over a steel case, so a thicker layer of gold but still not solid gold case. Maybe the bezel is solid gold but not much material there.
The issue is the dial. It’s not very good and with no gold weight to elevate the price it’s not anywhere near a €800 watch in my opinion.

Steve is generally valued higher than gold cap on these devilles. Solid gold ones with good dials can be found for around €2000 so no one paying €1300 for a gold cap version with damaged dial.

Yes I think the lugs are gold cap and the bezel solid. The dial is really considered damaged ?
So 800€ is too much for sure ?

I traded an old rado jubilee coupole (https://www.ebay.com/itm/3651697544...8bZBwXRtxB451sp79gLBkGTJYi8CQnQcaAtM9EALw_wcB) (you can find many online that don't really sell... + 450€ ; so still a bad deal that I should call off ?

Yes, I’d agree that the dial is badly damaged, which greatly reduces the value. Maybe $300-$400 USD.

Well, seems like you all agree...
Shite.
I'll call tomorrow morning and try to cancel that deal.

Thank you for your help !

Good luck! In good shape these are less collectible than the previous generations, but you may like this style. To me the main difference other than movement is those thin lugs.

I almost ended up with one of these... I would have worn and enjoyed it, but I'm glad I ended up with other watches.

If you traded a quartz Rado for it, I don't necessarily think that's a bad deal.
