Exactly where in the US? Anywhere near NJ?

Respectable Member ulackfocus

From the eBay email, after the listing concluded, this is the information given.

Seller information: name of seller
Williamsville, NY 14221 United States

Thank-you.

Hmmmm, that's about 4 hours away - just a bit to far to pay a surprise visit to the seller. 🙁

I appreciate your thought and kindness.

Please do not go out of your way, since I believe you have better things to do. God willing, with your advice and also, from other respectable forum members, I will be able to recover the loss. If not, I have to blame myself for the oversight.

Thank-you.

Are the laws in the US and Australia, the same?

Sorry, I don't know, but I would assume the laws are relative to who issued the card.

You should have a toll free number on the card where you can speak with a representative.

Your advice is appreciated.

I shall go to the bank to find out, regarding this chargeback. Hopefully, the bank will talk to me, since the credit card belongs to my 'big-boss'. I do not have a credit card.

Thank-you.

Respectible Member Seamonster -

Would you be willing to post a link the original listing (or the eBay item number) here?

At least we will know who not to do business with.

Sorry for your troubles,

No worries and here it is:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/130895728972?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2648

Also, he had an ad in the TRF and it is:

Have a close look at the photography in both, the eBay listing and TRF ad.

Thank-you.

No point going to the bank in person, just get your big-boss to phone the credit card company initiate the charge-back process 😉

Where's the seller located?

Credit card charge-back might be your best/only option here, if they're willing to.

Respectable Member Trev

My big-boss will go to the bank on Monday, since she has to get an hour extra lunch-break.

Meanwhile, kindly let me know how does the charge-back work. I know the card-holder will have to go to the bank and lodge a form, through the bank.

What happens after that?

Thank-you.

On the few occasions I've done it in the past it was all done over the telephone by calling the toll free number on the credit card or the monthly statement. I've never had to fill out any paperwork in person and I can't imagine the process is any different where you are.

The representative will collect the details of your case and based on the facts from all parties make a determination as to whether a return and refund is to be granted. It's quite like the process used by eBay/PayPal, who's deadline was unfortunately missed.

The information is appreciated.

I went to the bank just now because my wife was at work, to find out whether we will be able to initiate the charge-back directly with Visa or through the bank. The lady officer showed me a Visa form for the charge-back and said, my wife has to come personally and fill it up. Just as well, since my and my big boss' hearing is quite impaired.

I will now have to prepare the case on a separate piece of paper and probably attach it to the form, since the space provided for reason/s is limited.

Thank-you.

How long does it take to write "I bought a Rolex clasp that was proven to be counterfeit."? 😕

Seriously, they don't want your whole on-line purchase history nor a long winded account. Brevity is the key, and if they need more information they'll ask - otherwise they'd give you a notebook.

I profusely appreciate your advice and this comes timely.

The technicians at RSC Sydney confirmed, it is a counterfeit. Unfortunately, they are not able to give me this confirmation in writing. However, they give me permission to quote them, when I lodge my complaint to the authorities. Is this good enough?

Thank-you.
