Can anyone tell me what year this watch is from?

I inherited this watch from my dad and have had it for 33 years. I am attempting to determine its value to figure out if I need to insure it.

Unless you can get the rear cover off so the serial number can be read you wont get an accurate answer, I'd guess around the 1968-70 era though.

I agree with the timeline. Bracelet looks like the 1098 which came on the SM120’s around ‘67-68.

The bracelet is stamped 524 where it attaches to the watch.

Those are the endlinks. The esteemed @JwRosenthal is referring to the bracelet. The same bracelet had multiple endlinks depending on the former of the watch it was sold with.

It’s a nice looking watch and glad you have been enjoying it for so long. As these watches aren’t worth a huge amount (great value for buyers of vintage) it may not be worth insuring if it requires a rider. As Dan said, insurance value of around $1k would be a solid value, if you were to list it on eBay it would probably fetch between $6-900.
Verify if your insurance needs an appraisal for it as that would need to be done by a jeweler.

Thank you for the clarification.
