My brother has a steel cased Seamaster 1960's with a split in the side of the case.
Can this be repaired?
Sorry I can't post a photo's, he's 50 miles away and in lockdown.
From his description it sounds like a hairline split [gash]?
Any thoughts will help.
Thanks all.

As in the steel has actually cracked? Or there is a deep scratch?

One is extremely novel and I would ask him to send you pictures. The other can be fixed cheaply or expensively, but the cheap way may end up significantly changing the shape of the case

With only this info and no picture, my answer would be. With enough cash any problem can be repaired, replaced, or resolved.
