I'm looking into buying a watch which happens to have the Caliber 560. However, someone told me it is rare, and that made me think whether it's gonna cause problems while servicing it?
Far from being a movement expert but the 560 seems to belong to the 550 automatic family so I can't see any problems if you have a watchmaker who is familiar with vintage Omega movements. Depending on the country / state you life in you can get recommendations from the OF members Hope that helps
Ok, thanks. I also wonder about that same watch, it makes a squeaking sound when winding it. Is that normal, and what is it?
Could be anything from the gasket in the crown to something in the movement - impossible to diagnose based on the description given, so it will have to be looked at.
But it is not supposed to make that squeaky sound? The seller says it's the automatic part of the watch that is pulled forward together with the spring
I don't know what sound it is that you are describing, but I do not normally expect watches to "squeak"...
My 550 makes a noise like that, I would not say the same noise, but a similar one. But it hasn't been serviced in 58 years lol.
