Who's best to service a 321 calibre Speedy in the UK at present? I know Simon Freese has a great rep and does fantastic work but is very, very busy. Are there any other candidates who do good work and won't ruin the originality? I have used Swiss Time Services for many other watches but am new to the Pre-Moon game so need advice. It goes without saying that I wont be sending it to OSC.

All in good time lol. I need to get the back off pretty urgently to identify it definitively, hence my question.

    PM sent to @Pahawi

And @padders you don’t need the back off to verify, just shoot first and ask questions later. That’s worked out well for me... not...

At the risk of trying to drag this back on track, other than the esteemed Mr Freese and STS, are there any other trustworthy options for sympathetic 321 service?

Almost anyone can open up a caseback. Go to the closest watchmaker and crack it open, then evaluate the watch and get it serviced by a great guy

Got the back off finally. Did someone ask for pics? Gasket was squashed flat and acting like glue. Movement is spotless with no service marks, no prints at on the dust cover, maybe hasn't been serviced in decades. Dial is pretty clean with maybe the faintest hint of browning around the subidals but crystal is rough. I am a happy bunny so far. Next stop, extract and sympathetic service, probably by S Freese:

There soon be a very reliable watchmaker in UK... I mean our friend @ChrisN!

    http://cjnwatch.co.uk/wp/

I do not know if he will be servicing Speedmasters, but if he will, I am sure he will do a great job!

By the way, Chris' site is very intersting, and I highly recommand watch lovers to visit it.
