Cabochon-set crowns

Hello all.

I’m writing a piece about a watch that’s captured my attention lately and organizing my thoughts.

Cartier is known for their use of cabochons, but I’ve been looking into the past to see if they were used by other watchmakers on pocketwatches before they released the Santos and brought the feature into vogue.

I’ve found pocketwatches from the teens but this was post Santos. If anyone can share any insights on the topic it would be useful.
