Rome airport offers 22% duty free for non-EU resident customers. The Rome Omega Boutique in Via Dei Condotti run by the wonderful Giulliano (ex Rio OB General Manager) also offers tax free refunding and will help you with the form filling...and they have a large stock of watches. They still had a Railmaster 60th edition to purchase, which I tried on for the nth time and passed (again)...a watch I love to look at in forum pictures, but some for some reason I can never commit to pulling the trigger...which is a segue to the photo below taken in the Rome OB Dec 27th (every thread needs a watch picture right)

I realise that I'm late back to the thread I started! What I've learnt is: " it's a bit more complicated than that!". So I'm going to press on with haggling at a couple of ADs here ( UK) try a broker ( making sure I get a Omega warranty) In advance of trips from both LHR T5and 3 plus Gatwick returning from both EU and non-EU destinations. As you rightly say know your price point.
20% cheaper is not VAT free per se its 20% cheaper. At least I know the question to ask. I'd never knowingly get away with claiming a watch as a business expense!!!
