Buyer Beware: Fake Singer Logo On Speedmaster Dial

I was offered the following speedmaster dial for £500 recently which I turned down as it had a slight bend and some of the paint required touch-up.

I have now seen what I am absolutely certain is the same dial on eBay which has has been re-lumed (fair enough) but what astounded me was that a fake Singer logo has been embossed on the reverse. I am absolutely positive that the dial did not have this Singer stamp.

The “faked-up” dial:

I don’t think that’s a fake Singer stamp. They can be very hard to see without magnification so you probably just missed it the first time. It’s a shame the seller didn’t mention the re lume though.

Those do not appear to be the same dials, as the backs appear to be different.

Therefore, no reason to believe that the Singer stamp is not genuine.

See the matching marks to the sub-register dials. It is the same piece.

The rear has been sandpapered/polished/scraped to change the finish.

That Singer stamp doesn't appear new, perhaps the wrong pic of the back was used in the ad.

Same dial - I believe I can see shadows of the logo on the "before" pic, so that sandpaper/polish/scrape work just made the logo visible....

I think that the same dial is depicted in both sets (front and back) of photos. I have highlighted a number of consistent markings below.

Thank you, but from where was the bottom right photo taken?

Apparently they are the same. As I know little on the topic, is the SINGER stamp itself inconsistent with genuine examples?

Yes, the Singer marking was there all along...
