Movement serial places it as a -68, but caseback is marked -69, dial looks wrong, and the "DON bezel" is, I think, a later model one made to look like a DON (which is a bit alarming). The photos are, of course, horrible. What do the experts say?
Seems to be a poorly relumed service dial, service hands and the bezel is some sort of horror show... A 90s bezel made to look like a DON maybe? Has the accent on the E and dot under seventy... Serial is low, looks like a mish mash of service parts, an old case and movement that didn't leave the factory together and a modified or fake bezel.
The bezel is 100% fake (DON and DUN 70 = fake), and I believe the dial could be too. The ridges in the subdials are really pronounced, and the printing all over looks like crap, including the Omega logo. It's possible that it just looks that way due to the potato of a camera they are using, but at the very least the long indices indicate that it was created to deceive - possibly a full redial. The lack of step and lack of "T's" show that maybe it is a service dial, if not an outright fake. Also a 27XXXXXX serial? Wouldn't that be a 145.012?
But the seller claims: "As far as we can tell everything’s original on this nice example of reference 145.022 69 including the crystal with the Omega watermark." You all MUST be wrong....
A total put-together. 27m serial with 18 jewels and plastic brake? The bezel insert can be found on ebay for around £20.
I would be interested to know more about how this seller acquires his watches. He has a large inventory, but most of them are messed up in one way or another, and his ability to identify the issues seems very haphazard. It's as if he just buys any piece of crap that crosses his path and then puts it on eBay and hopes for the best. Some of his watches are actually ok, but how could you have any confidence in his listings?
This is one of those famous California Special fakes. They've updated their listing with new photos but it's the same old tricks. Please report it
The bushing is no longer available so it’s not unheard of for the 18th jewel.... But yeah the piece is a nightmare.
Nothing so underhanded going on here. I have spoken with this guy. He lives near by so I thought we might have a GTG. He is just kind of going his own way price wise. I think he is a little naive.
Maybe he bought one of those fakes then and is trying to sell it on, but this is definitely one of them
You can't by the coupling bridge with the bushing in it now - they all come with the one jewel. However the bushing is still available... 72200006177 | BUSHING
Umm it is still pretty underhand. If the watch is a put together of fake and wrong parts and you told him so then how is he not dishonest in claiming it is all original?
I never told him anything about this watch any of the others he has had. We just had a nice conversation about our collections a year or so ago.
Ok well that is different, from what you posted, I assumed you had spoken with him about this particular watch but I am still reluctant to credit ebay sellers with too much naivety these days.
If you think that one is a beauty... check this one out. Same seller. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Omega-Spee...260447?hash=item1ee9f66edf:g:0-oAAOSwtgFbhwyjPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
