Update FWIW: I had several 18mm and 19mm lug width watches that needed a new strap. I may have gone a bit too far on randomly ordering loud colors. Sorry some of these combos are a bit garish. I still have a few more on their way... After I hit buy on these, I realized they had rally straps on sale too.

David, I’m just gonna take your devices away for a little bit- just for a little while…I think you may need a time out.

Are the middle ones the chevre texture? They look pretty damn good in those bright colors!

I think that is the "Reid" goat leather strap.

Thanks again for sharing the news! The quality seems solid, especially for $25 a piece.

Edit: ... I might buy a few more. My plans to learn how to make my own are on hold for the summer (life is too busy), and I could load up on all the leather straps I reasonably need for a few years.
I’ve purchased their straps and have been happy with the quality.

i never minded the articles, esp. on vintage stuff. always had a good bit of information when i was doing research on a model.
some of the modern articles got a bit snooty and their models always looked like they wouldn't be actually wearing the watches they were sporting with their tied on cardigans....

Ditto! If the lug width works the prices on some of those are pretty great. Not sure I'd pay $125 for one of their straps, but I'd pay $25.

I’ve had a few of these same straps in my collection for a while- got them from a member here who knows the source from which Dinky gets them. They are among some of my favorites as they are slim and well made, taper perfectly to 16mm buckles like vintage straps and wear beautifully.
The $25 price point is spot on for them- not $125.

Pretty sure I picked up some straps for lug widths I don't even currently own, which means I'm in the market for a new watch.

I've already paired my watches with nice straps ... so what am I going to do with 15 more straps ? Buy more watches 😜 ?

It’s an investment and bearing the Hodinkee name will only help them increase in value with time (back to the theme of this thread 😉)

Looks to me that Hodinkee needs to expand its strap business.
Sales are through the roof.
😉😁

Hodinkee can't expand right now because they're strapped.

Perhaps if they sold reasonably priced, well made products to watch enthusiasts rather than cameras and man-bags, they would be in the black.

I think the other day someone started a thread about the current state of the luxury watch market. It seemed to get a bit heated I was trying to find it as I was busy that day didn’t read much. However at the same time my google news feed had an article “luxury watch companies looking for a bottom.” Again I was too busy to read it but it got me curious how things are and if it’s just a cyclical thing. I’m just dumping everything here as I don’t want to start a new thread when there was just one about it I missed. I kinda like new watches, I love the character of vintage but getting parts etc (humidity) can be problematic.
I just don’t follow “new” watch sales to know anything other than a snapshot of the now. It does seem there is some negative news but every sector has tough times, booms and busts. Seems like the tech sector in which my wife is very involved is having some serious layoffs lately. Jobless claims were up. If that trend continues it will impact consumer spending perhaps the housing market but who the hec knows when. Things can remain irrational and look strong despite headwinds and data saying otherwise and it can last for a long time or so it seems. Just a few things I caught now that I had some time to read a bit
