I bought this watch back in 2002 and had it serviced as it was running fast. After about 9 months it again ran fast and I have not used it since then.
I love the look of the watch and the feel of the bumper movement and would really like to try again to get it repaired to maintain time for longer.
I would really appreciate any info members can give on this watch and suggestions as to who to go to for service and repair. face 2.jpg face 3.jpg face 1.jpg Movement 1.jpg Caseback.jpg Movement 2.jpg
Serial number on the movement 12200198
    Number on caseback 2577-7

Best to state, GENERALLY, where you are, so members in your area can make suggestions either publicly or privately

    What are your expectations accuracy-wise?

I am not expecting a high degree of accuracy for this watch, but at present it gains massively so clearly has an issue.

No reason why it shouldn’t keep accurate time. My 2577-4 does. It’s a cal 351 bumper and marginally older than yours with a 1209**** movement number from 1950.

    Thanks,
There is no name on the face, but am I right in thinking its a Seamaster?

BTW, I live in Surrey and work in London so anywhere in the vicinity is OK for me to take the watch for repair, or I can post within the UK.

Hi @grady and welcome to the forum.

My 2627 with 351 bumper keeps good time since being serviced a few years back.

I'm in Hove and have had experience of local "watchmakers" in and around Brighton with mixed results.

I now tend to stick with a handful of trusted watchmakers who unfortunately are not local so I deal with them via tracked/insured parcel post and email comms.

Here's the ones I can recommend
    1. Simon Freese
    2. Watch Guy
    3. Mitka
    4. Brendan Hoey

Hope all goes well - keep us posted on the results!

Yes, it’s definitely a Seamaster from before Omega put the name on the dial or the hippocampus on the caseback.

Here’s mine, as mentioned earlier although not a chronometer.

I am guessing that a 1950 seamaster chronometre before they put the name on the dial is quite a rare watch?

uncommon, not rare. doesn't affect value if that's what you're concerned about

    Thanks,
Not particularly interested in value as I would not want to sell it.
Although, assuming its the original dial, I am curious about the reason Omega did not put the name on the dial ? or anywhere else on the watch as far as I can tell.

I might be wrong about this, but some early seamasters simply weren't branded as such - it wasn't standardised yet.

Although cases the same. Not all were Seamaster models. Screw back or snap back. Some were and some weren't. No rhyme or reason that I know of
