Brown Pulsation in AQ

Another watch I think worthy of discussion is this Ed White in the 9 March Antiquorum Sale.

For me, the brown makes it highly suspicious.

Here is a Repro:

I found this example of what I am sure is original old Pulsations (at the Watchclub)

What do we think about the OP watch? For me seeing a brown bezel like that makes me think of heat treated.

I could be wrong, but if it is genuine, thats the first brown example I have seen.

Reminds me of the perfectly uniform brown bezel we saw listed by a famous dealer, and then by a second famous dealer.

I've yet to be as lucky in my quests as those two famous dealers. They must grind 24/7/365

If I'm remembering correctly, the first one put a silly price on it, eventually reduced it a little, and then passed it off to another dealer when the listing got stale. I guess it sold in the end?

Sure, but that was a service/modern pulsations bezel that you can find anywhere for relatively cheap. We have seen original brownish DONs, so why not brown pulsations if they were made in the same period? The DON is a lot more common and we don't see a ton of brown ones. Since the pulsations is uncommon to start with, the brown ones (if they exist) are necessarily a lot more scarce. I agree with being cautious about anything from AQ but I also don't know if speculation gets us anywhere, since no one will be able to say anything definitively one way or the other. Overall, seems like a nice period correct bezel.

(I don't have any connection to the watch or AQ)

What are the odds that the bezel would fade to a brown shade that complements the dial so perfectly? While also being a pulsation bezel? But it is a lovely dial.

I've seen brownish bezels, but the OP bezel is extremely suspicious to me. As you note, we probably won't get past speculation, but it's not something I would want to bid on. That said, I have no doubt that it will sell for a lot of money.

What signs of an aftermarket bezel do you see here ? Apart from looking too new.....

I always thought this bezel shows a little brown .... in the right light, and at the right angle....

I don't think it's original, the ring that goes round looks a bit heavy/thicker and the gap between the outside of the bezel and the text is bigger.

Im more concerned about the dial. But yes, the bezel I wouldn't price as original. It does look nice though...

It could simply be the photography but it looks too uniform and “perfect “ to be genuine to me.

if this thread was about a new Omega release it would not have surprised me looking at the pictures.

I go with fake. Font looks too thick and not correct. Oh, and brown 😀

Why is there such a nasty gap in between the lugs and bracelet? It looks like ~2mm, which is a lot to my eyes. And then the strap is oversized in subsequent pictures and being squeezed into the lugs. Yuck.

I love those pulsation bezels. Does any make an aftermarket one?

I think Omega might still make authentic ones.
