Put my deposit down with OB the day after announce in January 2020. No transparency on delivery timing since. Losing interest. May pull my deposit.

Have you asked them if they have a list who they are allocating the pieces to? With the 321 they are individually allocated and not by timing of deposit.

I was told that US OB allocation decisions were made by HQ and that I had to wait another 12 months…maybe more. I did ask who was receiving the pieces. “Million $ VIP customers” was the answer. Meanwhile, I’ve been rotating between my vintage Ed White and steel DaytonaC and having my watch itches well scratched.

Omega has Million $ VIP customers?

I didn't think Omega made expensive enough watches to have that kind of whale unless the person is buying up a bunch of stock to operate as a grey dealer.

So everyone wearing a 321 on here is a millionaire VIP Omega customer? I was told HQ was just divvying up watches to Boutiques based on sales volume and that eventually every OB would get at least one piece. I've been first on the list at my OB since the announcement...and the last I heard was that I'm the only serious inquiry they've had and that if one ever shows up, it's mine. But I'm legitimately more likely to get a ceramic Daytona from them. They've sold me a Batman and Ceramic Kermit in the past 12 months and I was told a Daytona would be available within 6 months. But they can't tell me when or if they'll ever get a 321.

I'm guessing you're not US based since US OB's wouldn't also have Rolexes for sale.

That was my reaction. It’s really hard to spend that much money on Omega.

I know what you mean. Though I discovered the 321 months after the initial announcement.

I’m not saying I’m ‘in good’ with my OB, but I do inquire from time to time. The info I got was that early on, deposits were being taken, then once availability or any real ETA wasn’t clear, OBs (at least mine) stopped taking deposits. Solely on the basis of not having an ETA. You could still be put on the list but the wait was open ended.

It’s supposition that the pandemic put a damper on production, as did the Snoopy and new 3861. Which are all understandable, despite wanting at least a general delivery date.

I did speak to other OBs out of state who were still taking deposits but also unsure of any ETA.

That said, I’ve also been looking for one of two German sports cars, upgraded and backdated. . Starting with a ‘P’ and ‘B’. Not sure of an ETA on those but I’m sure I’ll keep looking . . .

On this very first Speedy Tuesday of 2020, we have some exciting news to share with you. It took Omega exactly one year from the introduction of the new caliber 321 to the introduction of the first steel Speedmaster with this movement. On this very day, one year ago, Speedy Tuesday fans were invited to […]

I remeber the adds in National Geographic, the Gemini Astronuts try out jet guns to manuver & there on the wrist "Omega Speedmaster"
Those were great days, Rolex sold in drug stores for $125. Beter deal at military PX.
It was a tragic loss with the Apollo 1 fire White, Grissom & Chaffee.
One of them introduced using a water tank to practice as an alternative to space. NASA still uses that for trial runs.
The Omega Museum in Bien has a great display of all the watches & mission patches.
I even held a Cosmonaut's watch that is on disply.

Totally false. I only had to spend a few hundred thousand to jump the line. ::stirthepot::

You know what I love about this photo? The shadow being cast on the dial by the Omega symbol on the crystal. Sure is a beaut!

[Warning: whining and complaining post]

After being told that Omega informed their OB that the Ed White is only for their best clients and that I shouldn't bother with even putting my name on the list, it's hard not to think they have gone to the dark side of marketing. I have resisted this thinking but believe I may have been naive.

Now that there is an Ed White for sale on OF for 5K above market, it sure feels like Rolex.

Enquired about the watch pre launch, registered within seconds of the launch, received confirmation that my order had been received and where would I like it sent, local OB please, then nothing, the sound of silence is deafening.

On the plus side the money is in my bank, earning some interest, the watch if I’m lucky will come along at some point, if it does fine if not fine. I would like one but if it doesn’t happen there are plenty of other watches out there.

Indeed .if you actually really wanted one, you could get one for about a couple of grand over retail. These are not snoopy territory but it’s a bloody nice watch if you like that kind of thing.

I know there are many opinions about this watch and how Omega has decided to release it, but as an Omega collector (especially of Speedmasters), I am willing to wait with my cash deposit on the barrel head. Sure, I could bail out and purchase at current market price, but I'm content to sit tight. YMMV. It's all about how you like to hunt. 👍

Yes, agreed. However the premium (at least in the U.K.)isn’t as much for sure.

Omega has Million $ VIP customers?

rumor #1. How to become instant vip omega customer? -> buy 3 in-stock platinum timepieces of any model, you will get 321 or snoopy soon

rumor #2. Some straw buyers for grey market businesses are considered vip @ ob

similar wind in oyster universe, ‘buy a few presidents, you get a gmt’

but are they really that organized, or we ‘‘fooled by randomness’?
would like to hear more solid opinion from senior members
