As I left home for the event, my wife shouted, "Don't spend any money." I'm now sleeping in the car and eating takeaway meals. 😉

Everyone got a goodie bag as they left. In mine was a rather nice metal ballpoint pen and the gold coloured Spaceman pin badge. There were smaller bags that I presume were for the ladies?

Wow... Omega not doing a great job of following the Rolex play book. How can you create an illusion of scarcity if somehow everyone still gets one? 😉

Oh well, looks like the marketing is working anyhow. 👍

I work in automotive, and globally there are strong indications that our decade of strong growth is coming to and end (if not already passed).

"... make hay while the sun shines... "

The eight were pulled from elsewhere in the UK allocation due to strong local demand. Whether this suggests the watch is in surplus elsewhere is impossible to gauge at this stage.

Unfortunately some missed out on the night due to mulling it over, they went on a reserve list.

Imho the watch marketed itself in the flesh but it was great to see the energy and enthusiasm from the team there who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their product

Wife - "what colour is your new Omega"

You - "Moonshine Gold which is a wonderful pale gold unique to Omega"

Wife - "Idiot!!"

Just got back from another one of the Omega boutique evenings.

I was told that the UK usually gets about 10% allocation of any limited edition watch, including this one. The US gets a larger market share but didn’t say how much.

I tried on both the 50th anniversary in steel and in gold - both were number 0. I stated that I’d seen that exact watch in photos on this thread and that it must travel around the world to which she replied “there are several watches stamped 0” - not sure I can believe this as surely that would mean that there are more than 6969?

I also said that I’d got a deposit down on one and they confirmed that they were allocated 10 and have only taken 10 deposits so I’m guaranteed to get one - not bad to say that I only placed the deposit 2 weeks ago. They did say that I’ve got lucky and talking to others (the public) they agreed. There were many people in attendance that would’ve put down a deposit this evening if they could.

Had my snoopy 45th anniversary on for the event which got loads of attention from staff. Said that they couldn’t even get one for its own launch event a few years ago. Also said that despite usually getting 10% allocation, the UK actually received quite a bit less than that due to the US market getting a larger than normal share.

I’m not sure how much of the above to believe, but it’s come straight from the horses mouth so I thought I’d pass it on.

Chuffed to be told I’m guaranteed one though.

My info. on the UK's allocation is around 20%
There are 137 Omega outlets in the UK, and if the allocation is only 10% that means each store would only receive 5 watches per store.

My local OB gave both SWMBO and myself Omega pens (one black, one white) along with some fancy champagne when I bought my Moonwatch, we did a search when we got home and found that the pens are on e-Bay for around £70, which is bonkers

That is normal. Multiple 'display-only' watches.

I wonder 20% if not more allocated to two countries would be fair. Maybe it's my fear of not getting one that makes me hope it isn't true

Sorry when I said they received 10 watches, that was over 2 stores (5 each), which would make the 10% figure correct.

Sorry forgot to add. They didn’t have any information as to when the watches would arrive but their best guesstimate was September 2019.

Tried it on twice but didn’t take any pics of it on my wrist. Looked good though. The gold is very understated. Just got one rubbish iPhone pic.

There hasn't been much mention of the quote on the back. I'm troubled by historical revision. Whether it's the taliban pulling down ancient Buddhist statues or Kate Smith's statue because she sang a song in the thirties or quoting a historical figure saying something they didn't. When the landing occurred Mr. Armstrong's voice was televised clear as a bell. He did not utter the word "a." There was no missing time segment for an inaudible "a" to have been. I have the highest respect for the man and the greatest achievement ever by earth life. Mr. Armstrong had a lot on his mind at the time and a minor grammatical slip is beyond superficial. It's still part of the historical color of the occasion. To sanitize it now is false. It's also odd for a Swiss company to redact American historical grammar. Especially the grammar of the greatest pilot whoever lived. Is history whatever you want it to be?

The watch is however a total stunner. I think every aspect was well done, both bold and tasteful.

My pics from when I tried it. Then the rather nicer IMO solid gold version. Rather a hefty price difference though!

I didn’t like the gold one. I’d probably buy one as a watch collector but couldn’t see me wearing anything like that.
