Bracelet ID numbers

Hi All,

New to the forum. I’ve posted this on another site but not received any responses so thought I’d try the knowledgeable folks over here.

I’ve just purchased an Omega 1589/858 bracelet for my 2016 cal 8500 42mm PO. Bought from an online retailer of Omega spares for £500, in all respects it appears to be the genuine article but I notice that it doesn’t have the ‘858’ etched into the underside of the end links. I’ve searched on the Net to look at similar watches and see if this is usual or unusual. All I’ve found is a mix; some PO’s with bracelets do have the ID number etched and some do not.

Why the lack of consistency from Omega if all these bracelets are genuine? Or do Omega etch the bracelets sold with the watches but do not etch the ‘spares’ bracelets they sell separately?

I suppose ultimately my concern is whether I’ve bought a gen bracelet or a copy. It’s excellent in all respects apart from this lack of numbering. I’ve searched here and found a similar thread but it doesn’t answer my question.

Is anyone able to shed any light on this?

Many thanks.

I think, Omega stopped to put the reference number on the end links several years from now.
Some of my newer bracelets have also end links without any numbers on.
The reference number is then only underneath the clasp (e.g. 1589/858).

Ah, as I suspected then, many thanks for responding.

I had purchased brand new Speedmaster edlinks directly from Omega and they lacked the markings, so the fact yours don’t have it does not for sure means the end links or the whole bracelet are fake
