Do you buy chance have a lot, or little arm hair? (Or perhaps, a middle amount 😁)

I ask because I have a Tokyo 2020, alleged by a few to be the worst offender of this “sharp case back” issue. Meanwhile, I’ve never once noticed it. I’ve seen others suggest perhaps it is their lack of arm hair that allows the edges to offend - and here I sit of Scottish, woolen, blood.
Hi,I noticed the sharp edge more just feeling the watch in my hands. On the wrist a feel maybe 1-2 out of 10.

I just felt the watch was too worried about "history" and not enough about being a good watch 😀.

Why manual wind, lack of clasp adjustability, and a sharp back? The answer I am told to all of these is history.

I'd rather forgo history and have automotic movement, and adjustable clasp, and a flat back.

Congrats on the new addition, and thanks for taking the time the to post detailed photos and impressions. Part of what makes the forum so valuable, and much appreciated, especially when so many boutiques and ADs are still Covid-closed.

Not yet in the market for one of these, but very interesting to see how different these new models seem to be in terms of the clarity of different dial elements. They look to me a bit less like the tool watches they once were and more like the luxury timepieces they are now.

Well, at least for the manual winding, there are likely a number of reasons other than “history” (e.g., depth of movement)

And if history were the only motivator, you wouldn’t have sapphire (front or back) and any number of other features

glad to hear the “sharp” case back isn’t actually a material matter of comfort to you

@Spikedlee congrats, and thank you for the detailed look.
Gotta favour to ask though...can you by and chance put a new bracelet on the older (3570.50 or 311.30.42.30.01.005) case and take some shots from the back. I'm interested how the little notch on the newer endlinks would fit the old type case from behind. Thank you

FYI, there are a number of posts in a TRF thread showing the diffs in detail. Not sure about rules for cross-forum posting but you might have a peek over there.

This is a dangerous post for me because I already own the 1861 hesalite from 2017 as well as a 321 and a few other LE’s.

I had no intention of adding this one, but between the precious metal versions and now this post showing the new ones in stainless I’m in serious danger of spending money again lol.

"All manned space missions" ...so much for that "human" rumour? Can that now be laid to rest?

These pictures are not helping me decide between hesalite and sapphire. I have a hesalite 1861, so I was leaning toward sapphire so that I can see the movement.

I much prefer the brushed bracelet of the hesalite and dislike the milky ring around the sapphire , but I like the applied omega logo and sapphire case back of the sapphire model
100% agree... where is the new hesalite sandwich?... can you swap things around?

Do you think it's possible to fit one of the adjustable claps on the new bracelet or are the endlink parts completely different?

Nope. Completely different.

Spikedlee, thanks for posting. I almost went into the Chicago OB on Wednesday evening. Would have been nice to see them in person. Did they by chance have any on the nylon strap? How does that look? Thinking about getting the strap for my 1861 I bought in December, if it will fit. Thanks again for posting all the pictures and information.

In that case, couldn’t you just go for a Dark Side of the Moon or one of the other double counter Speedmasters?
As for the movement, I think if going for a display back, the manual chronographs look much better than an automatic.
The adjustable clasp I agree, probably a bit of a missed opportunity, though personally I prefer a strap/deployant combo anyway.
Anyway I feel the point of the Professional is to stay true to its origins and has remained iconic partly because of it.

It's a shame to see the booklet go that came with the 311.005 in the big box explaining the role of the Speedmaster in space and the moon missions. But then again anyone spending this kind of money and buying this watch probably already know it's historical significance.

I really didn't the they'd scrap the whole loupe/straps/paperweight thing after only 5 years though.

How are the pushers on the new Speedmaster? From the photos it looks like they don’t protrude as far out of the case, but seem to be slightly larger in diameter...

I’m also interested in hearing if there are any differences in pusher feel when you engage them (feedback, stiffness etc).

Seems silly to worry about this with what is going on in the world, but enjoying watches is one of the things we can continue to do

I was having this exact conversion with a friend a couple of days ago. My preference as always would be hesalite, but I prefer the applied Omega logo and the display back of the Sapphire version.

The fit of the bracelet ends are so much better than the previous generation!

I believe the book is still included and is under the box. It took me a year to realize it was in my large suitcase 005 box!

Don't want to hijack the thread...in brief 44.25 is too big for me. I had looked at a 40mm racing at the time but didn't like the Paris nails. I almost wnet for the older Seamaster but thought the Speedmaster was less flashy and more me.
