The sharp caseback engraving is the whole reason I got rid of my speedy and I'm shocked more people don't complain about it. I'm beyond excited to hear they seemed to have subdued the engraving a bit.

That was one of my first questions when I started wearing it. "Why the f is this so sharp? How is that good a thing"?

Any chance you could upload some pics of the casebacks when you get a chance? The sharp caseback engraving is the whole reason I got rid of my speedy and I'm shocked more people don't complain about it. I'm beyond excited to hear they seemed to have subdued the engraving a bit.

Sure here you go:

Do you buy chance have a lot, or little arm hair? (Or perhaps, a middle amount 😁)

I ask because I have a Tokyo 2020, alleged by a few to be the worst offender of this “sharp case back” issue. Meanwhile, I’ve never once noticed it. I’ve seen others suggest perhaps it is their lack of arm hair that allows the edges to offend - and here I sit of Scottish, woolen, blood.

Awesome thank you!!! Is the ring around the engraving flush with the caseback now? On the old one it always stuck out a bit which was the culprit for the discomfort, It looks like they've softened the ring around the engraving a bit on the new one.

One thing to also point out is that the edges of the new bracelet are much sharper than that of the Ed White bracelet which is softer and a bit rounded at the edges. If you wear the watch too tight the edges could dig into your wrist and definitely hurt. Just something to be aware of. I just loosened the bracelet to remedy that.

Yes that ring is completely flush with the surface of the caseback and does not protrude out at all. Perhaps Omega has spent a good amount of time reading these forums for design updates!

Congrats on the new pick up! You could always use the Ed White bracelet on your new one, and now with the actual omega end links since they should fit the case perfectly.

You would probably be the first person to try out the combo 😀

Good point. I totally forgot that the Ed White end links are fitted to the case a special way which is why I have mine on Uncle Seiko end links instead.

I guess since I have both I should try for the sake of us all

Would love to see that! I know everyone else is really feeling the new bracelet, but me personally I prefer the flatlink from the 50th.

It's a no-go. Ed White on the right, 2021 Speedy on the left:

The end link on the Ed White sticks out too much from the bottom still. That thing is like a fitted key. I am sure The bracelet could fit, but it would not be perfectly flush with the case and would stick out a bit on the bottom.

I've handled a few 'bought and paid for' watches at dealers, but proper etiquette is not to remove any plastics, not wind it or play with any functions and certainly not try it on. In my view the OB was negligent in allowing this.

interesting... it seems the lip part on the new bracelet is thinner. Almost the way folks were modifying the flatlink end link to fit the “old” speedy. Wondering if the new bracelet will actually fit the old case then.

I'm glad you got to try them on -- although the WIS in me couldn't help but think:

1) Those watch cases are touching, those polished surfaces are getting hairlines, and that's someone else's watch the OB is allowing this to happen to...

2) Why is the OB passing out a paid-for watch?

😲

😒

Keep in mind all these pics you posted of the two watches touching are of the watch I bought and my own watch and not the paid-for sapphire one. That I had much more common sense than to do something so stupid.

it wouldn't fit perfectly in my opinion. The lugs on the new case are taller and stubbier than the old case. It is very apparent on the shape difference when you have the side profiles side by side.

...stupid...
Speaking of stupid...somebody at the Chicago Omega Boutique actually let me inside the building...and they didn’t say anything about me having a bad hair day...which was very nice. 😁

If that is a bad hair day, you don't want to to see me on a good one!

I make sure that I don't touch watches that are paid for. I ask the person showing the me watch to move it around or flip it.
