Bought a watch and the seller won't ship to the US

As my title states, I bought a watch on Chrono24 and while it isn't my favorite platform there was something there that was rare enough to deal with it, or so I thought. After a few days of no contact from the seller I finally received a message that he didn't want to ship to the US as he only ships within the EU (He's in Hungary). The watch isn't particularly valuable ($2250) but I'd really hate to lose it.

Has anyone else run into this situation and if so was there a way around it? I was thinking there might be some type of third party service that could accept the watch and then send it to me. I haven't cancelled the sale as I'm hopeful that I'll find some sort of solution.

Any insight or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Now you know how EU feels when dealing with the CONUS-only Klan 😀 What Achim said … Someone will help you 👍 Unfortunately I’m not in EU either … although it is all around me…

I’m in the EU. DM me if you want to go the route of having an EU intermediary stop to discuss details. Have shipped watches to the US multiple times and it really isn’t a big issue.

Here in Australia, both the CONUS crowd and the EU sometimes won’t ship. I have to remind the Europeans gently that as Eurovision participants we are a part of Europe and the Americans that we gave them Steve Irwin, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

Just remind the Americans, that they lost the " Last Frontier" badge. Australia has that now. If they still want to visit, we expect them to comply with our wishes. Otherwise: No Visa.

I feel your pain as part of the EU-crowd. Your post reminded me of this brilliant comment 😁😁

Times like this, UK looks more left out than ever - no longer a member of any of the crowds complaining about the other crowds! (Maybe there's a cricket crowd?)

You're forgetting Alaska. That's okay, a lot of Americans do too.

And people from Mexico, Central America and South America get annoyed when we in the States refer to ourselves as "Americans."

But you all can call us Americans 😁

Frankly, I can totally understand why a EU seller would not feel comfortable shipping a watch overseas, especially if he has never done it before. What if it gets stuck at customs or lost along the way? There's additional risk for the seller and it may not seem worth it to him.

But why vote on which bear wins fat bear week if they already know the weight of each bear?👎

Eehhhh… but you have only been in the top 10 four times. Membership of the European Club required FIVE top 10 results 😡😡😁

Same for Serbians, IIRC, even tennis players.

My view on “Conus Only” is that folks don’t feel comfortable fibbing about value, risking an uninsured shipment or making price concessions to compensate for shipping and import fees.

Mine is that they are simply too lazy to fill out a form.
