As both an Omega enthusiast and a bonsai fan, this is incredibly cool! I love the watches, especially the black Constellation.

Did you plant those (maple?) bonsai in the 5th picture yourself? I don't see those nearly as often as some of the other varieties.

2 are by myself the others I've acquired.
The Korean hornbeam I started about 15 years ago from a well established shrub.
It was twice the height but my lad knocked the top of with a football, but she looks better for it 5 years on.
The Japanese pine is about 25 years old I've owned her for 4 years.

Very glad to see them doing so well. Meanwhile, I've had such poor luck with Bonsai in Rhode Island...

Very nice maples and japonese white pine!
I like the mame too (shorter bonsaïs).

I have a few more shohin and mame bonsai they take so much watering and looking after!

The bigger and older the bonsai the easier and more forgiving they are.

Sadly all my maples have got scale insects at the minute and the trunks are covered in white blobs.

I think my love of Japanese culture especially bonsai, nature and the love of the beauty in imperfection and the Japanese fictation of wabi sabi has made me seek out things like tropical dials etc.

The seamaster dial is everything I love with watches, its hard to see the star effect on the pie pan dial again a natural effect of age.

Again, love the pics. I think we have very similar tastes.

Have you considered planting one of your smaller bonsai in a kintsukuroi pot? I think it would look amazing. I've tried to find one suitable for planting, but have never been able to locate a good source.

I also have a few shohin and mame, and they are indeed time consuming!
Never thought of a link between old watches and Japonese culture. But it is true both tend to value nice aging.

Have you read Tanizaki's In praise of shadow? The book to read concerning the beauty of the deepth of old things - rather than the brightness of new ones. There are pages about gold (more beautifull when aged and viewed in some shadow) that every mad polisher should read!
