Bond Seamaster Bezel Ring Wont Align??

I've switched out the bezel insert on my titanium 2231.50 for a black one and when I did it I tried my very best to align the scalped notches with the bezel insert and they simply won't align. I tried a dozen times and each time the insert is aligned perfectly but the scalloped ridges are slightly off. I'm starting to think this is a defect as it won't align perfectly even with the insert not attached. I am bamboozled here. Check my pics and see what you think.

First and last pictures have good alignment, middle not so much.

Good mod.

Since Omega does not sell the insert separately from the bezel, I assume this is an aftermarket insert? That might be part of the problem. Or did you remove this from another Omega bezel?

Agree with @hen

Even if it's aftermarket, it would have to be so poorly made to not align since you can time an insert however it's needed. If you're just popping an insert in.

Yes, this is an aftermarket insert from Cousins with a genuine lume pip I switched over from the genuine insert. They are decent enough quality.

However, the issue isnt with the insert, it's with the titanium bezel ring itself. It seems it cannot sit perfectly between the lugs at 12 o clock on the money. Look at this other photo, you can see the scaloped edge of the titanium bezel ring is not aligned perfectly. It seems both 'clicks' on the rotating bezel are positioned between the absolute 12 o clock. I've added a new photo with a straight line illustrating what I mean.

As the aluminium insert is circular it can be placed perfectly at 12 (I know it's not in this photo). The titanium bezel ring seems to be the issue here.

Change the click spring.
That must be the answer. How did I not think of that! This was a NOS watch so I guess I overlooked that. However I might have one knocking around which I'll try out. Cheers!

This post doesn’t answer the problem with the subject watch. But the “seriousness” of the misaligned bezel brought to mind a situation with my Omega Speedmaster that I have had for 35 years. The 60 on the bezel insert doesn’t line up with the 12 on the dial! Oh dear! Oh dear! What to do?

Yes, a true first world problem but watch tinkering is all about the small things for me.

Lovely speedy. Is that a 3590.50? I have the same model. Such a beauty. It would take you 5 mins to realign that bezel

It’s a 345.0808. Perhaps on my next moon launch, I might adjust that bezel to align properly. Wouldn’t want to miss the moon, would I?

Despite NEVER having used the bezel on a speedmaster, that would annoy the crap out of me 😁

For close to 35 years I didn’t notice that misalignment on my Speedmaster. Doesn’t bother me one iota!
