It doesn't look so blue in the printed catalogue. I'm hoping to get down to the auction so will definitely be checking this and the other Ed White out properly.

Viewing isn't until Friday. It depends if I can leave the office for long enough to get down there. Otherwise I'll be viewing if I go to the auction on Saturday.

Unless there are some demons on the sides/back of the case, I can't see the first one going for less than £2600.

Last time I was there the dealer sat next to me said "people are mad coming to an auction to get a bargain" ! That said, he then bid like a madman on about a third of the catalogue 🙄

Agreed. I expect it will go over that, probably to a phone bidder.

Don't get how you can buy a watch in this price range without seeing it first.

Probably not. I Think from a security point of view it's a no no.

Tells you how much I know. Last time I saw that scene there was so much hand waving...and in the age of small mobile phones.... Well,

Not seen anyone try. Understandably you are supervised when you are handling the watches.

Thanks again.

"supervised" LoL.
I gather it may seem ... ungentlemanly ... to attempt such a thing.

Security!!

Aren't the Swiss as methodical as the Germans? It kills me that a manufacturer of fine time pieces was so sloppy with its records and use of stockpiled parts (apologies for nation stereotypes just expressed, but REALLY! 😀)

Anyone in London/the South East going tomorrow? I'm still working out my plans but hope to get down there around noon/1pm.

Just had a look at these 2 Ed Whites. The blue is in great condition. The dial has an even blue sheen like some mk 4 or tv dials. I looked at it under a loupe but the retaining ring obscures at least half the swiss made text. It appears to be correct lettering for the period but its very hard to be sure with so much behind the ring. I wont be bidding.

The other one is very worn - the case has a lot of marks as does the case back. They've priced it correctly i think. Not one to make a big effort to acquire IMO.

I'm going to stick around and maybe bid on a couple of other things.

Should add that the Bezel is clearly a 1990s replacement.
