Big watch, Small wrist

What do you think? Still too big?

If I am correct that is the reference 2806. According to the Omega website the case diameter is 49.2 mm. Here’s the thing, that size would wear very large on almost everyone. Additionally, the watch has almost no bezel and a very large dial. This makes it wear even larger. If you are a large watch guy then go for it. However, the fact that you are questioning the choice means that you don’t want a watch that wears too big. The answer to your question is yes, it is a big watch and it definitely wears big. You would have to have an 8 inch plus size wrist to carry this one off without it looking big. At the end of the day it’s your watch and your wrist so wear what you like. If it were me I would go for the 39 mm version.

if this watch appeals to you, fυck them and just get it.
Amen! This should be copy/pasted into every "what do you think", "help me decide" etc. thread

No, that would be zero help. What you’re failing to recognize is that the people that post those threads truly want the opinions of people on this forum who are allegedly knowledgeable about watches. It’s not like they posted the thread to show off their new watch and members started peppering them with comments about it being too big, too small, etc. They are the ones who are looking for an opinion, validation, or whatever. It’s only fair to provide one. We’ve all been there!

Totally agree! This is specifically a thread asking if this watch looks too big- it is asking for “opinion”, like so many threads like this- so opion is subjective- but the overwhelming response on this particular watch for this particular person is- yes, this watch looks very large on your wrist.

When someone asks you if their ass looks big in these jeans, sometimes the only answer is sweetheart- it’s not the jeans.

Yes, I still think it’s way too big for your wrist, and it probably would be for most guys. Just my opinion - please don’t bust my chops. Happy Holidays!

And based on my experience on this forum, I could have told you the answer most would give long before the question was ever asked. This forum is populated with a large percentage of vintage collectors who tend to prefer smaller watches generally, so the overwheliming response is no surprise at all. Ask this question on a Panerai forum and you will likely get a very different answer from all the people there with "no taste."

It's ALL opinion, which is why the OP should not be swayed by the answers here, even if he asked in the first place.

By what you like...period.

Huh? Am I the only one that thinks this makes no sense?

Let me 'splain it for you...great to ask for input, but I would not suggest the OP should be swayed by opinions here, because this is a self-selecting group that is skewed towards a given answer.

I agree, but did I say that the OP had “no taste”, or imply that someone with a large watch lacked taste? If I did it wasn’t my intention and don’t remember saying that. The overly skinny suit thing with a bling-bling hall clock on the wrist-that I will argue a lack of taste.

I wasn't referring to you, but another arbiter of taste here...

First, that is an obtuse response at so many levels. You speak as if groupthink has taken over the forum and there are no individual opinions out there. Nonsense. Additionally, with new members every day the group dynamic changes. The group dynamic also changes with fashion. Twenty-four months ago there would have been a large contingent of people in favor of larger watches because that was the trend. Now that watches are trending to more moderate sizes opinions have somewhat shifted. In any case, just one glance at the different threads is proof that there is no homogenized dynamic here no matter what you would like to think.

Secondly, if people on this forum should not be swayed by opinions here, then why are you so ever ready to render them with an often condescending and professorial demeanor?

I owned this exact model for very short period of time. I have 7.5 in wrists and loved the look of it, just not on my wrist. It was obnoxiously huge. Also, one of the first times I wore it, some non watch stranger made a smart ass comment about it's size and that was it. I traded it shortly after that. Like some have said, it is a personal preference, and my personal preference shrunk significantly after owning it. I own a PO chronograph and that is as large as I go. One of the things that makes it look so large, is the dial is not much smaller than the case. If I would have bought the 39.5mm instead, I probably would still have it.

Not what I said - I said quite clearly that the group is skewed towards a specific answer. The fact that the answer was given as it was, pretty much proves that point...

No keen insight required. I have seen this scenario play out many times here, so have seen the results of this same question asked over and over again, and seen the comments made by people here who have a clear preference for smaller watches. Once again, not saying there is unanimity, but it's definitely skewed.

I guess that’s where you developed your keen respect for their opinion. As you put it a few posts back…

oh man you just can't let anything go can you. I am the one you are referring to and my post also included a smiley icon.

however that example in my post is perfectly valid. if some with particularly thin wrists don huge panerais and incessantly posts selfie wrist shots with steering wheel backgrounds I think most would suspect them as being shallow and trendy, and certainly lacking in taste.

now let's get to the real agenda-matter at hand shall we? sorry you got butt-hurt a few days ago when I criticized excessive costs associated with servicing simple time-only watches but you need to let it go and stop stalking me on the forum.

@Archer ...Al, you are absolutely right. This is a collector community and our tastes run to the classical. It does occur to me that @watchdaddy1 and some of our Paneristi could provide some insight on how to sport a large watch. One thought @leandroquezada, head over to aaronbespoke.com and have a look at his straps. He’s good matching straps to watches. Changing that black strap to something bolder might make it work.
