Outch! That looks bad.
I have a naked steel ring from a bezel left in my parts drawer. Send me a message if you are interested.

So, thought I would follow up on my post from a while back. The watch repair expert who identified the problem for me here in Hong Kong successfully replaced the bezel ring with a newly made replacement (courtesy of another guy who does this stuff in HK) and kept the DNN insert that came with the watch. For those who wondered how the bezel ring was staying together at all, the answer was glue -- probably UV glue, which was also keeping the insert attached to the bezel ring.
So this means I can now enjoy the watch without fear of the bezel falling off (or pieces thereof), and if I come across a decent DON then I always have the option to swap it in.

Thank you. For my education: what does the correct crown look like vs the one that’s on this specimen currently?

If that OP Ed White is a very late one, like 1968 onwards (with a > 26m serial) then it is possible the 32 tooth is original or at least swapped in period. The 32 tooth does crop up on late 1960s models, especially late 321 movement Pros (the Michael Collins if you will). If on the other hand it is a mid 60s example then a 24 tooth as above would be expected. I would prefer a 24 tooth personally but just throwing it out there that the 32 tooth isn't necessarily wrong since the Ed White was still being delivered right up until the 861 model Pro came in.

Do we know the serial on the OP watch?

Ah, probably ~1966 production then. Mine is on 22.82m and dated April '66. A 24 tooth was most likely on there originally but the 32s are at least near period correct!

Doesn't make a big difference to me, really. B

I can live with that. Right now, I'm just enjoying being able to wear the watch without fear of sudden bezel loss.
