I'm more than a little skeptical that this is the whole story. There has to be more to it. And don't the Rolex haters just love these stories. Confirmation bias.
He was told it was his fault for not protecting his account properly, hence the ban "unless you pay us $10" requirement.

I own several Rolex myself and not sure I fit into the Rolex wearing Douche bag category myself ( I'm pretty sure my ex wives might disagree though ) but with them excepted ,I have never thought of any other Rolex wearer as one either . I wear lots of other brands of watches & have looked at a watch & tried to judge the wearer by their watch alone ,but I have tried & usually fail miserably . I now reserve judgement until I have either spoken with them, or heard/seenhow they interact with others . In other words you don't need to be a Rolex wearer to be a douchebag or using what I would think is pretty much the British equivalent , a Knob or to give it the correct vernacular a knobhead ) ie, he is a knob or he is a right knobhead . Feel free to use when the opportunity arises .

after flowers appear in the living room and there's a new pot plant on the dining table

Blimey, over here in Blighty we have to keep ours hidden away in cupboards. Er, pot plants that is, not new girlfriends.

TBH I'd rather say ppl who say that Rolex (or insert any brand here) owners are douchebags without knowing them, are the true douchebags.

I love Rolex more than Omega, yet only belong to OF.

Hell, I attach a stigma to a majority of modern Rolex owners, but vintage is a different ball game.

Wow that is a way harsh statement 😀 No statistical proof for the Rolex owning-douche bag-connection.

Yes, not all douchebags wear rolex watches. I was just having a little fun about the silly behavior over at the rolex forum.

Last year at a wedding, I mentioned the rolex douchebag connection to a buddy (had a few drinks) as we were talking about two tone sub he was wearing. He did not find it near as funny as @Faz did. He was actually pretty pissed.

I'm sorry for my ignorance in this matter chaps, but..... what the 'fakk' is a "douchebag"?😕

Ahhh... it's a device for keeping the old 'fur-burger' 'spic and span'!..... Thankyou @jimmyd13.👍

No.
it's a arrogant fυck full of self importance that thinks he's as cool as Christmas
( can be quiet blunt also 😲 )

I myself wouldn't relate 90% of Rolex wearers as douchecanoe,s but a Rolex could be seen as douche accessories.

?...but a Rolex could be seen as douche accessories.

None of the guys I know, who own a Rolex, are douchebags. On the other hand I know a couple of assholes, who wear watches of other brands or no watches at all 😁

If people look at my Rolex and decide I must be a douchebag, that is their choice. I might think they are too for some other reason. I may be proved wrong, if I get to know them better, and so may they.

I do not know enough about TRF to comment on the $10 reinstatement fee.

You know what they say, when you look around the room if you can't spot the douchebag....

TBH I'd rather say ppl who say that Rolex (or insert any brand here) owners are douchebags without knowing them, are the true douchebags.

I find it impossible that people can peruse the TRF for more than 15 minutes and not get the distinct impression that there is an incredibly high douchebag ratio there.

Now granted vintage Rolex collectors are seemingly completely exempt from this categorization. (Tudor owners seem to be the total opposite also )

But let us cherry pick some beauties :

Do people treat you different when you wear a Rolex?
Do YOU treat OTHER people differently whenever YOU wear a ROLEX

Is your vehicle and your Rolex a balance

Is my Rolex safe near in an F16 Viper?

Let´s See Those Steering Wheels!

Would you buy a Rolex from Banana Republic?

do you consider your Rolex or other luxury watch as a part of your ''total''

Plus there were daily threads about investing in current models and speculating on which were going to go up the most but it seems like they have all be deleted.

Now we get some silliness at OF but can you imagine all of these active threads in the Modern section?

Haha while all of those thread titles look SUPER freaking douche-e, I scrolled thru a few of them and most of the responses were not nearly as bad as the title of the threads.
