·I got banned from another watch forum beginning with T and ending in Z ...(only forum banned from out of many) for asking a mod politely whether with references I can sell a personal watch before I hit the 200 posts mark - it wasn't that far off the mark. I then received a series of personally abusive messages which were largely disingenuous to my mother and about the size of my manhood - and worse. I don't think they ever met either of us which puzzled me... 😕. Whether he / she was just having a meltdown day I'm not sure but I wouldn't set foot in that forum if it were the last watch forum on the planet. It was unnecessary.
I can only assume it wasn't TZ-UK where there's virtually no moderation. The owner, Eddie, has always been relaxed about what goes on but has some very definite rules: no swearing on the open forum, no personal attacks, no racism, no dealers operating without declaring themselves and no dual identities. The forum mostly polices itself and tends to work although it can turn nasty on occasion. I suspect that ultimately it functions as well as a moderated forum except anything contentious tends to work itself out without the single moderator becoming involved. Not a forum for everyone but it can be an interesting social experiment. And Eddie's used the forum to raise a HUGE amount of money for charity.

Like what? They are also sensitive to the word gun. Which happened as well. But, I was not posting guns. I happen to use the words "gun control" Which was part of the context of a thread. That was just an infraction, but had me scratching my head as well. Other than that, I'm not a frequent poster. Again, very selective on what "opinions" are allowed. They might as well make a rule stating if a mod doesn't agree with you...BAN. There's almost an unwritten rule on how to respond to certain topics. It's ridiculous.

Bingo... they stay away from politics there as well as here. If you where aware of them not wanting to talk about gun politics and you clearly made a political statement in your comment... and by your own words you had already been warned...
I’m not saying I agree with thier action but as soon as I read what you stated I knew exactly why they did it. I don’t think it’s about agreeing or disagreeing with your thoughts, it’s about keeping politics and the BS around that subject off the forum.

·Agreed. Again, the wrong opinion. Also, with watches, especially the "Watch Out" section. They seem to allow certain ones to blindly say whether a watch is fake or genuine. Others, they demand a reason. Yet, they clearly don't want anyone discussing details that could aid people in creating fakes. I work on watches, so some of the actual watch threads are cringe worthy.

He told the person I was talking to was a scammer, bc wrong email.
Then I got banned.

I got banned once for that. lol. They thought I was supporting a scammer. They banned me before actually reading the context. I was able to get unbanned a few days later.

·This all supports my decision to rarely frequent that forum. I stopped visiting because it seemed like the same questions were being asked repeatedly during the week, without people searching for 2-3 keywords first.
It sounds like they have the ban-stick drawn and ready at a moments notice. Watch me get banned there for this post here on the OF.
