Hello Omega Forum. This is my first post here.
I want something that is reliable and versatile.
My budget is no more than 500 euros(excluding servicing, for that I have set some money aside.)
I have done my research and I know what I am getting myself into, this would be my first Omega, but not my first vintage watch. I have owned a couple of vintage Seikos, including a Weekdater I regret selling.
All I want is the best bang for my buck longterm, I don't require any fancy stuff, All I want is a solid watch.
I'm looking for something similar in style to the Omega Megaquartz 196.0030. I don't want a Megaquartz because there are way too few watchmakers willing to work on them, and the service cost is ludicrous, if I can find someone willing to do work on it, not to mention the lack of parts available.
    Thank you!

Something in the style of that reference but do you want it mechanical or quartz ? Any more requirements for the watch ?

You'd find some nice examples if you want to go automatic/manual for example...

Sorry for not mentioning, I'm definitely going to go the automatic/ handwinding route. Right now there's an empty spot for a dress watch in my collection, or something versatile enough to pass as one.

I think at your price point there are many choices in the vintage seamaster and deville styles. could probably pick up something already serviced within your budget as well. especially if you wanted gold color for a dress watch.

Posting this in the Vintage Omega forum would probably be an excellent start.

There are a number of mechanical Omega watches from the late 60s and 70s with tonneau cases and integrated bracelets, and I am assuming that is what you want. Fortunately for you, these are not generally amongst the most desirable references for collectors, so they can often be found at reasonable prices. When you find one that you like, feel free to post photos to the vintage Omega forum if you have questions about it.

I got this one for 470 USD. It did require a service though, which cost more than the watch itself. That’s something to keep in mind.

I know, but I considered my budget, "plebian", so to speak, that's why I didn't post there in the first place. Turns out I can get some great pieces for the money. Thank you!

Thank you, but I forgot to mention that I wanted something within the EU, customs service is horrible where I live.
