··Nowhere near as grumpy as he used to be...The red thing is the bezel lock?
As a diver the layout makes sense, and that crown would dig into the top of your hand if it was on the other side. I see no pro or con from a snag perspective.

The red thing is the bezel lock?
It was a purpose built tool watch, and one of the best ever developed for its purpose.
I disagree. It was never popular, and never widely adopted by professional divers. Even completely redesigning the case to lose the one-piece design (which had its own problems) didn't save it. The bezel design was a joke; much harder to use especially wearing heavy cold water gloves. Anything that's awkward on the surface is going to be worse when your digits are cold and heavily clad. This is why no other dive watch actually used professionally ever adopted such an overly complex system. The thing was such a huge brick on the wrist it was far more likely to snag on stuff, as are all overly fat dive watches. Just my opinion and observations of course, but I've been diving for 40 years.
Diverwatches are overrated. Prof divers use diver computers. But its nice to have a backup, hence the only reason one uses dive watches. But one can easily have 2 divers computers, so in reality, dive watches is a marketing hype.
But with that said, i love dive watches. Because they look good. Ploprof, i love it.
Well you Ploprofers are certainly a passionate bunch I'll give you that. I feel slightly more enlightened. I doubt I'll ever be close to wanting one on my wrist as my watch bucket list already stretches off into my next re-incarnation.....
I shall from now regard Ploprofs in a similar way I think of my primary school teacher Ms Lornie in 1973....a severe, oddly dressed, ugly spinster with scary crimson lipstick that always somehow smeared her yellowy teeth by day's end...but don't you DARE go disrespecting her.... 😀

I don't think they had dive computers in the early 1970's!
Nope no dive computers in the time of these chunks. Dive watches have always been cool to water sports guys that actually dive.
Gone through more dive computers in 15 years than dive watches in over 30+ years 😗 ( actually only lost one dive watch, coming off during a waterski race )
Edit- both me and the watch came off 🤔
I'm highly considering a purchase of the modern Ploprof but am having a hard time deciding between the steel case and the new Titanium version. What would you guys do? The titanium is obviously much lighter in weight and will probably be more comfortable but there is just something cool about having that big hunk of steel on your wrist. Also, the date/no-date discussion could be brought up as well.
