Goodness what a sweet build!
So many yummy parts.
So, dumb question pt8477

I see a lot of road bikes are now sporting hydraulic disc brakes....what took you so long? Which part of the technology took that long to catch up, I cannot work it out.
Frames/ forks? Unlikely. Wheels? Meh.
Genuinely stumped.

Good question. Weight is the first thing that comes to mind.
And I think they were, at first, illegal in professional racing due to safety concerns.

Safety? I heard ages ( like a decade) ago some noise about discs being 'dangerous' in crashes. Thought that got kicked into the same long grass as ' ice skates chop loads of fingers off'.
I kind of understand the weight issue, light weight materials creating appropriate stopping power.

I think that mindset lasted until only a few years ago or so.
But you are correct. Potentially dangerous in crashes is what I remember...

I really hope they never find out about the Megavalanche 😁
Whole bunch of mtbers racing down a mountain, starting at a ski run, in snow. Usually ends up in a succession of crashes with piles of them flying down the mountain stuck together.
Can highly recommend the youtoob vids.

It's on my list in 3 years time, if the wife isn't paying attention.😁

Dang that looks so good.
I have been thinking of picking up a set of gumwall tires to break up some of the black on my bike. Literally everything is black.
What are some good ones that can handle the occasional wet?
I saw the Conti. GP5000 has that option but I can only seem to find it in 25, and I'd like 23.

Big fan of the GP5000’s. I ran the tubeless ready version on my CAAD12 and they were great. 23’s are definitely going to present a challenge there. Schwable's seem to be a favorite in the wet from what I’ve read.

Beautiful bike! Nicely done with the build 👍
Thanks! Some drama to get it finished, but now that it’s here I’m very happy.

Check out Vittoria Corsa. Probably one of the best tire on the market for roadies and yes, they do come in a 23.

Ok you've said that twice now, care to share? lol

I may try 25's again. I really have no preference.
When I got the crappy carbon clinchers that are on the bike now, I had it in the shop for a tune up and to put a cassette on the wheels and put them on the bike.
They called me and said that the Michelin tires I had at the time {700x25) would not fit due to clearance issues.
I thought that was weird, but just had them out on some new Conti GP's in 700x23 since I could have used them anyway.

Power washed the gravel bike last night for it was covered with dirt, mud and salt. Getting ready to head out to do a cold winter night ride with the gravel bike soon 😲

That is interesting why the shop is saying that the tires you had on no longer fits??? Head scratcher alright! I currently have Michelin Pro 25 on my TCR and they are fine. Besides the ISP, your TCR frame is exactly the same as mine.

Yeah it never made much sense to me. Those tires were on the carbon wheels that I had on the bike and I was just switching them over to different carbon wheels.
But it was not at my usual shop and I was not around to go check it out myself so I just told them to go ahead and put on some good tires that fit lol.

Painter said they'd be happy to order parts and build the bike. Painting the decals in a silver fade versus the gold fade I'd requested was just the start of a long list of mistakes. Parts ordered were generally almost always wrong. Only the parts I ordered and delivered to them were correct the first time. Then it became clear that they were not mechanics. After 4 months of waiting (some things took longer as parts are unavailable) he had everything on hand and still did not have the bike built. Showed up on yet another day that I was promised it would be finished (3rd time in 3 weeks) to a disassembled bike with quite a bit of work left. I pulled it and took elsewhere. New builder had me up and running 90 minutes after I'd arrived. All good now though!

I was wondering why it was taking so long for your bike to get up and running from when you posted you bought the frame! Just glad everything had worked out!

Here’s a picture of my wife’s TCR on Vittoria Corsa 28. Yes, this frame fits 28s 😀
