I fully intend to get my kids riding ASAP.
We bought the 2 year old a balance bike.
For those of you who don't know the idea is to be able to skip training wheels, but we'll see.

Unfortunately though, she has approximately zero interest in it right now lol.
She loves sitting on the back of my bike but does not seem interested in trying to propel herself.
We went the same way with our kids and they were riding proper bike without the side wheels before their 4th birthdays. But we skipped putting them into the back kid saddle on our adults bike. I didn’t want to get them that comfy sitting, doing nothing and watching. I believe they would prefer this over the strider and the proper bike later 😀

@Mad Dog What frame is that? Looks like Cannondale with that cantilevered drop out.
But then again its a normal track drop out....
It’s a Schwinn branded frame [Sprint model] from 2010 and came from the factory as a fixed gear/single speed...it was one notch up from the Schwinn Madison from what I remember. I have no idea who actually made the frame since Schwinn is just part of a much larger conglomerate. It has Reynolds 853 track tubing for its main tubes. It has track geometry but it’s not a true track frame due to bottle cage mounts, the presence of rack mount holes as well as an aft brake mount hole. Below is a craptastic picture from when I had it configured for road time trial competition as a fixed gear utilizing Dura-Ace track drive train components...

LATE ENTRY: I currently ride it [recreationally] in the configuration seen below...still with the Dura-Ace fixed gear track drive train but not the other time trial stuff...

Dude...9 months in the making?

What happened?

I tried to do a “look back” on this thread...I probably missed something...due to low technology or something.

Life man. Lol.
Life happened. I've really been out of cycling for a little over two years now.
When my daughter was born (2 years ago) I found that my energy level had been, well, lacking hah.
That, and a lot of free time I did have was now being allotted to the little one and supporting my wife (my former riding buddy).
Even when I had some down time, it was hard for me to get out. Where I lived at the time was not conducive to just getting out and riding.
I lived in the middle of a pretty busy area with no good roads to ride so anytime I wanted to get out it was a production.
I would load up my gear in the car and drive about 15-20 min away.
Last July, we moved. We moved right on the street where one of my favorite routes was/is.
I was so happy, I could finally just get on my bike and go.
But wait. With a new house comes new house projects! So what little free time I had was now being occupied by other things!
And what didn't help was the purchase of the hybrids. But I wasn't mad about that because at least I was getting out on a bike.
But the last few months I have just really been itching to get out on the rodie, so I made it a priority.
And it felt great! I'm definitely out of shape, but it was nice to get back out. And I hope I can find the motivation to get out and do it more.
But in 7 months time, I will be starting all over again once the new little one comes lol. So we'll see....

The amount of people that have been out riding lately is insane.
I wonder if it will last after all of this blows over...

Not only just riding. Theres a pathway behind a bunch of houses in my neighbourhood and normally it is completely vacant. These days you'll pass a dozen or so people. It feels like a collective restlessness.

Like many I’ve been stuck inside so resorted to the wife’s Peloton, which isn’t so bad actually.

I did get a new pair of Lake bike shoes which I really like, wide toe box but normal width elsewhere. Been tough to find ones that fit me well but these are a success.

On the roads in our area most hours cyclists are outnumbering motorists, obviously many of them have not been in the saddle for a long time but at least they are giving it a go 👍

How is it? Ours gets delivered tomorrow lol.
I have done only a few spin classes and did not enjoy them.
But I'll give this thing a shot.
I want to figure out if there is a way to somehow use Zwift with it since I no longer have a trainer.

Well... not as good as a real ride but in a pinch it’s okay. But if you don’t like spin classes this may not be for you. The classes, live or taped, are pretty good, upbeat and gets the heartbeat going. The scenic ride-type courses are a bit disappointing to me, laugh all you want but I kinda thought the peloton was hi tech enough to simulate hill climbs, change the pace of scenery based on your pedal speed etc. But no, just scenery that goes by even if you stop peddling.
My wife loves it tho and uses it daily, I can hear the music pumping as I type. 😀

I’ve tried a few spin classes over the years and did not enjoy them either. Riding with the brake(s) on just didn’t
seem right...also, the rubber saddle(s) lit my ass on fire.

Also, I’ve encountered some spin instructors who have some issues...they may be hot shit in the spin room...but when they show up (shooting their pie holes off before the ride even starts) on a real group ride on a real bike on a real road with real climbs and then get their spin bike asses handed to them, the bullshit excuses would fly.

Hahaha! Love it...

But I live in Florida, could you please explain to me what a "climb" is?

Got out twice week before last. This week putting away jerseys and shorts with snow outside, I was puzzled. “why did these get washed?” Cabin fever. Hope to do more riding soon. Feels good.
