TheNewOmegaMan,

I think this hits the spot if you can find preloved in budget.
And annual calander to boot.
Watchfinder just did a video on this very watch here. Definitely worth a watch.

On a separate note, there are plenty of brands with pre-owned or grey market prices around $5000 or less that are great watches. Omega, IWC, Cartier, Oris, Ulysse Nardin, Nomos, etc.

I would look to see if any Jaeger Le Coultre are out there in your price range. I like JLC far better than IWC or Montblanc. I would also look at GP and Baume and Mercier. Both nice watches and available at much lower price points in their used dress lines. 5K is a tough buy point as the nicer stuff is higher and so many watches being retailed for 5K are worth a lot less. Good luck in your search.

Pre owned certainly is the way to go, I think it’s fair to say that your money will go a lot further.
In terms of suggestions, pretty much any Grand Seiko, Zenith Elite line, Glashütte Original, any Girard-Perregaux 1966 is worth looking at.
Finally you can’t really go wrong with Nomos

I’m curious, will this be your only watch, or will you want to expand your collection?

I would definitely want to expand my collection so this would not be my only watch.

Would struggle with a new Blancpain, I think.

You could buy a brand new Nomos for that. German design, and many have in house movements if that's important to you.
