These things become harder to find by the day but they are still out there! A couple of quick and dirty pics as this one wings its way home to be cleaned, serviced and stared at for weeks to come ...

Add another to the list of known examples.

Congrats. One more for you, one less for the rest of us😁

A bit surprised by the pics as not what I expected for a barn find. Thought there'd be a mound of old fleshy crud. The case seems decent but it looks recently polished and the dial seems washed of lume? Bezel looks honest.

For what it's worth, I would vote for a relume if you were debating. This is a touchy subject. But for this watch it would probably come out beatifully and enhance it. Curious about your thoughts after you see it in person.

One owner and never polished. It was worn daily but what you see is genuine wear.

As for a relume, I think this is one where it wouldn't be detrimental. Certainly the hands need to be filled. Once it is stripped and cleaned, decisions will be made.

Looks like the original tritium lume was removed at some point. What’s with the ghost markers at 9 and 12? Is that actually a feature on the dial or just crystal fuzziness? Hopefully the latter. Whatever, it’s not too far gone to have appeal. I too would be considering giving Mr J Hyman a call with this. Or just send it to Simon Freese and let him work his magic.

I just spent a good three minutes trying to work out what "ghost markers" are

The crystal is covered in scratches. I think that's what you're seeing. Definitely the case near the 9. As for the lack of lume, as I say, it's a one owner watch; bought from the son who didn't want it. It has be serviced locally through its life and my best guess is that the lume deteriorated and flaked, the remainder was removed to "tidy up" the dial. James may be getting a call for the dial or I may let Phil see it first.

Whatever you do, I look forward to seeing the outcome. As you may remember, I have one of these and I bloody love it. It is a good catch in any condition.
