I'm actually familiar with the whole story, but respect the OP's privacy. He literally got it as part of an unrelated flea market purchase. He didn't know a lot about vintage watches, though he'd purchased a vintage Rolex previously at a pawn shop, and started to do a little research online. I think it's sad that when he showed up in a few places, people scrambled all over themselves to try to rip him off when he didn't realize the value. He was advised of the value and got a very fair deal in the end.

Respect his privacy. Hmmmmm?

Names, locations, other forums details, etc. I was trying to be generic enough to offer people an answer to what happened, without giving personal details. Whatever.

No ones asking for names, locations etc.

In fact no one was really asking to hear the back story until the op suggested there was an interesting one and began to drip feed tit bits, leading to the whole teenage girl gossip column "ooh guess what I know?", "dunno, what?", "oh I can't tell you. It's great, you'd love it but I can't tell you. You'd love it though".

What could have been a simple 'this is a 2998 I've acquired' thread mended up being utterly ridiculous and looks like another example of someone flaunting the rules by using the forum as a vehicle for selling their watch without any contribution.

Hi @cdtx are you related to @Artx ?
I’m only related to Artx by the fact that we both serve the risen savior Jesus Christ. I am proud to call him a close friend. Artx does not live in the same county as I.

For the time being, I will consider it an honor to be accepted here. Any person drooling over this wonderful find Artx has is IMO rightfully excited that they may score it at a pittance of it’s worth. Knowing that the OP is (was) new to this particular “Speedie”, Im sure, from past dealings, his learning curve of Speedmasters and those that hunt them is on par with any of the best collectors. Forging fishing stories and untruths with conclusions that are rediculous will be sniffed out easily by him. (I think lying is against the Forum Rules.)
I hope all of you get the chance to have dealings with Artx. He is a gentleman, fair and loyal. Out of common respect to all involved/interested, this is all I have to say at present.

Maybe someone here? vvvvv
He's very happy with his outcome from a private dealer, who traded watches and cash valued over $50k.
BTW, it's 'you're too'

I remember when this thread started and we were all excited about an amazing watch and the potential for an amazing barn find story...

Then a few days passed and there is no longer a watch and it turns out the story kinda sucks...

For those of you who are disappointed with the lack of pictures. Here is one of my watches 👍
