Greetings all,

Trying to get a watch running for the Mrs. Have a very nice TV seamaster that has a mangled hairspring- need a new balance wheel with hairsping or balance complete if anyone has one in their parts bin. Used or new, as long as it’s functional.
Thanks.

Anyone got a parts movement for one of these ladies watches? Just need balance with hairspring.

I think the staff on mine is fine, just the hairsping got mangled. Are they interchangeable?

I should think so.

The jewel count is the only difference as far as I know.
I also have this complete 483 movement too, and other 484 and 485 part movements.
Happy for you to borrow the three part movements and the loose balance, take what you need and send the rest back.

The calibre 684 is an automatic. The calibre 483 is a much smaller manual winder. Might the balance from a calibre 483 be a match to the balance from the calibre 684? It is unlikely that a donor hairspring would be an exact match for the original balance wheel. These components are matched during production.

Appreciate all the help guys- another member Pm’d me that he might have the exact part I need but needs to check his stash- so will update this if he indeed has it.

Balance/hairspring are sold as a matched pair so, you usually can't take a hairspring from one watch and a balance from another watch.

The 484 is 19800 A/h and the 684 is 21600 so, there is no way that a complete balance from a 484 will work with your 684, even if the dimensions happened to match. It will run at the wrong rate.

I might have a 684 balance complete somewhere but, you're looking for part 6831327. You can buy these new at $300-400 but, here's a used one on eBay:

Be aware that even then, you might find that the endshake of the balance is wrong and you need to adjust it - nothing is ever easy...

Good luck, Chris

You are right of course, not sure what I was thinking of.
