The third leading cause of death in the U.S., after cardiac and respiratory illness, is medical mistakes. If you ever have to go to the hospital, have a friend or family member by your bed---24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hopefully I will never have to go to a hospital in the US...

Well, considering I had a heart attack a little over 3 years ago, and had zero delays, great treatment, a great outcome, and tremendous after care/follow-up, I have little different perspective. But hey don't let any facts get in the way of your perceptions, eh? 馃槈

Living so close to Canada, it always surprises me common misconceptions about Canadians. Their healthcare is actually pretty good and they get quick service. They also have great insurance against their igloos collapsing and the all to common polar bear attacks.

hehe just poking a little. I have seen that there is a lot of research about how non-fatal surgeries get delayed. I'm sure it is better than how they make it out but I think there is enough truth to it to make the joke, eh? 馃槈

They are working on building code updates to assist with eliminating shoddy practices of some igloo developers. 馃榾

I actually hear of more bear attacks in the US than here - something about people down there always wanting selfie's. But occasionally they do interfere with parcel delivery:

Well to be fair I do have some complaints. I was charged $75 for the 25 minute ambulance ride from my local hospital to the one where they performed the surgery - I guess $25 for the driver, $25 for the other EMS guy, and $25 for the nurse that saved me as I started to crash on the way...but still that's $75 bucks! Add that to the fact I had to pay for parking at both hospitals and we were probably out of pocket a whole $100 ($80 US) by the time it was all done. Rip off!

So clearly it's no picnic living here with that kind of expense dropped on me, and in addition we have to put up with Don Cherry's wardrobe!!
