I belive those things happens when you try to make something extra good. How ever, I will not change to another watchmaker - he is good - but shit happens....
Obviously nobody is perfect and everyone can make a mistake. But I cannot understand how this kind of damage can happen... You can break the tip of a hand when correcting its shape, and so on, but damaging a hand thus way? I do not get it! But if your watchmaker is overall good and trustful, keeping him is understandable. Have you tried to polish the hand? If it is solid gold you could end with something acceptable.
watchmaker uses a chair with small plastic wheels. The hands fell to the floor and the chair wheel passed over it!
Stunning watch, very sorry about the hand damage, especially if the watchmaker didn't bother to mention it... Same thing happened to the seconds hand on my Sub when I was having my watchmaker service it. He informed me right away and sourced a replacement hand set.
What is the case ref. and caliber? Unfortunate that this happened - if I had to guess he was bending the hand using tweezers that were rough or too hard maybe? Bit of a brain fart, and even people who know their jobs well have them from time to time. That's why doctors have malpractice insurance for example... Cheers, Al
The third leading cause of death in the U.S., after cardiac and respiratory illness, is medical mistakes. If you ever have to go to the hospital, have a friend or family member by your bed---24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
What an example. That is too bad about the hand. I could look past it for a while while sourcing new hands.
if you cannot find replacements, this watchmaker can repair the hand: https://www.instagram.com/tsutomu_satoh/ He is enormously skilled and has the distinction of being the only authorized repair for MBF.
