Availability of 321 even lower than we think it is?

That PT950... 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

not just for the metal either, it’s the most stunningly beautiful dial in person, I had it on my wrist briefly and didn’t want to ever take it off.
Was it as satisfyingly heavy as I imagine it to be ? 😀🥰

I can tell you the platinum Daytona is heavier then my 45.5 planet ocean on bracelet.

Gregory also went on to say they can make about 1000 pieces per year, so to get there, the math needs to bring them closer to a rate of one watch every two days. Now I'm sure there is plenty of wiggle room, and perhaps they are not getting 40 days off, but I'm sure COVID protocols are not helping. I'm starting to think the buzz on the internet about 1500-2000 pieces a year is wishful.

I have probably said that in other threads already, but the "1000-2000 pieces per year" does not mean they will produce that number every year, and to be honest it seems they've produced much less than that in 2020. First, it is for the Calibre 321 itself, not the Ed White. Then, think of this as a "max capacity" at full throttle, based on the small dedicated team and probably also sourcing of components. They could well decide to produce less (or none) on a given year, based on other factors (priorities, strategy, demand, LE that may sport a 321 etc). I personally feel they will produce just enough to keep them hard to get and drive everybody nuts 😀

(sorry OP for the side discussion) I had the Pt950 demo model on my wrist for a while whilst visiting the manufacture in Bienne, and also found it surprisingly light, to the point we were wondering if the demo model was actually not in SS for obvious cost reasons given nobody will ever buy it. But no, it was the real platinum deal.

Great to see this has sparked so much conversation!

I said F-it and yielded to a YOLO or FOMO moment and purchased on the grey market. Will I have access even in a few years? Maybe, but I don't have access now. Some on here are passing up the offer from an OB, I haven't seen much feedback, but I assume they have solid purchase history. I'm starting to believe firmly, we will have less than 1000 SS321s pumped into circulation annually for the foreseeable future.

I honestly don't think Omega has even produced 500 SS models since launch.

I think you are right, if Omega is running the serial numbers concurrently through both the SS and Platinum models, it would seem that they aren't over that number for the SS model. It is interesting to note that on Omega's website, the platinum model shown is serial 88700017 and the SS model is 88700057, so that may indicate that Omega is running the serial numbers through both models sequentially.

Just my uneducated prediction, I don't think Omega will even be at 1000 by end of 2021. I'm guessing maybe 600-700 in total by end of this year if we're lucky.

more more complicated than that, and not sortable. There’s a second, separate line of serials.

And, presumably, the platinum versions take up some number of the early stages of any serial since they were available/being produced for a year prior to the announcement of the SS

There are a dozen for sale on Chrono24 at this writing. Premium is 60-80% above retail.

That's very interesting, if this is the case I will probably try to pick one up.

Congratulations! Mine arrived this morning and I couldn’t agree more, it really is epic (the dog’s less enthusiastic but then she always is).

I had some reservations about this watch (mainly because of all the reviews commenting on the price) when I received the call on Monday to say it had arrived but as soon as I saw it I knew I was well past the point of no return.

Yes, it’s a lot of money. But it’s a special watch, and not just for the movement. It’s perfectly executed and beautifully finished (even the lume, which I know divides opinion but in my view completely suits the watch as well as adding contrast to the dial, improving the legibility).

And the bracelet is even better than the A11 50th, which is a big ask. It’s light and extremely comfortable, the watch feels well-balanced and very easy to wear.

The bezel is beautifully done, with a slight silver tone to it in comparison to the deep black of (at least some of) the original 321s. When it catches the light it brings the whole watch to life.

And then of course there’s the movement...

In short: I love mine and I hope you’re enjoying yours.

Can't agree more with this. For the same reason - amongst others like the sapphire - I also wanted to see it for real before taking my decision and told so to my OB, as I find the lume of the SM300MC or Ultraman a bit overwhelming.

But when I got the call and put the Ed White on my wrist ... it was perfect 🥰 ... the lume is just slightly off-white (similar to the original Ed White when leaving the manufacture), absence of milky ring effect, fantastic bracelet and stellar finishing. It was literally one of those "shut up and take my money" moments. I might have also said something along the lines of "oh and this is so perfect this could be my end game, bye" (which they did not like that much).

Congrats and wear in good health.

That is really interesting. I'm curious about how the bracelet on the new Ed White differs from that on the A11 50th. I guess I had assumed they were pretty much the same other than the 19mm v. 20mm.

Me too. I’ll be able to compare tomorrow afternoon when mine arrives!
