Diesels drive me mad. I am so used to high revving engines where the power goes on building until a little below the red line that a diesel always catches me out. My expectation goes all wrong when the grunt goes away long before it should.

Even worse is "speed limited" vehicles. A Hertz van had a "limited to 60mph" placard, fine, but it didn't say that it was done on engine speed not road speed. Overtaking in a low gear got the engine to cut out when I entirely did not expect. Nor appreciate it. Other rental companies had different approaches, wood blocks under the carpet to limit throttle travel was a standard for Avis UK, and a slack throttle cable for Willhire. Along with dangerously low tyre pressures (any of them).

Meh, my rant for tonight.

Edit: Nice to see that 904, the 904/6/8 series are my favourite Porsches and so rarely seen.

my car revs to 8k and doesn’t build power till 3,500. So I know what you mean.

the 535d.... 255hp at 4K and 412lbf at 1500.
O-60 in 5.6. It has a butter smooth 8speed auto. The car just moves fast, silently and utterly without drama. It’s the exact opposite of mine. It’s an interesting beast. Plus it gets 32mpg on average.

https://www.caravaggiocorvettes.com/copy-of-c6-z06-convertible is where the car came from.

I know what you mean, high revving cars are more fun and rewarding to drive well. But when I drive a c7 or my Dad's 535d... the low end torque gets super addicting... I own a car that is similar in power delivery to yours, and both of those really ruined me for a month or so on my car.

The c7 with mag ride is really a revelation to drive.

I know, but while it'd be nice in a sedan, I don't think I want that in a sports car. Of course, you could always go for the best of both worlds with a 911 though, which is my long-term plan if I continue to need a car.

At my mechanics last night. Looked for Fatima but she wasn’t around.

Yeah, she got blowed up, didn't she? LOL

A friend of mine in college had one of these. I had to drive it one night, somewhere, and I couldn't find the headlight switch. It was something weird, like a stalk next to the turn signal. Crazy Frenchmen!

Hardly rates with other entries, but interesting, I thought. I had a house call to a rural property today, to find this artifact. A 1939 Mercury coupe. Introduced by Edsel Ford in 1938, to bridge the gap between Ford and Lincoln.

Friend of mine had the negative of this one, triple black. Surprisingly little space inside these, but oh my god, the leather!

A picture I took at the Corning Concours in 2018 of a Ferrari Boxer race car.
An amazing mixture of raw beauty and functionality.
