Thanks M. Yes that is origional mileage of car. It was a one owner car being offered at a very low price...this car found me, I wasn't looking for it!

Thanks Stygg, agreed, big difference and after seeing the transformation up close and lifting those heavy U.S. bumpers it's hard to believe Mercedes ever let this configuration out of the factory!馃槻

More than that, the US wouldn鈥檛 likely have allowed the car into the country unless it was equipped to agree to current safety laws at the time. US manufacturers were obliged to build cars similarly equipped. Made for some unattractive appendages stuck onto cars. I have reason to wonder if the MB equipped to European standards was to have been bought in Europe and shipped to the US, would it likely have to pass an inspection before it could be licensed and insured. Sharp, now, in any event.

It鈥檚 a little more complex then that and varied legeally by year. Theoretically in some states the car is now no longer compliant and could get a ticket. In theory that is, as no one would ticket it.

5mph bumpers became a requirement in 72-73, but I鈥檝e seen grey market cars imported new in the 80鈥檚 that never got them.

Historically there are quite a few differences on US spec and Euro spec cars going back to at least the late 50鈥檚 gullwing headlights come to mind. US laws or the threat of US laws often imposed with the urging ofUS automakers influenced a lot of cars like the 911 targa, and wind shield wipers of the MGB. Headlight covers of the 240z, E type, and Ferrari.

Which wheelbolt lock would you guys recommend for VWs?

I'd definitely get them form the main dealer that way if you loose the key they have a full set to get your wheels off. They are not expensive, my daughter lost her key and a set cost me 拢36 this was for a Hyundai form main dealer.

Some rare birds there! MGC? Islero? Z4MC? Solstice Hardtop? MGA coupe?

Pretty sure the z4mc is the highest production numbers of that bunch! The interceptor is almost mass market compared to those.

Yeah - the oddballs seem to find me over the years.

Islero S = 100 Jensen CV8 = 500 MGA Mk 2 coupe = ~500, MGA Twin Cam - 2100 Solstice coupe = 1200 (less than 300 GXP with high output and manual trans), Z4MC = 1800 North America, around 3,000 for other markets, Mk 3 Interceptor = ~4500 MGC convert ~ 4500 Jamaican bodies properly installed and finished on an MGA? A handful, perhaps (I did that one with a GM 3.4 V6)

That's OK - I used to race a TVR Grantura Mk 3 (70) and owned a Swallow Doretti (276) Finding parts for these can be challenging except where they are shared with more common cars..

Thanks for doing the research! I knew the numbers on the Soltice and Z4mc but not the others. Man the GXP hardtop that鈥檚 a car that got killed to early.

I sometimes regret buying the e46m and not the Z4MC, then I remember I鈥檝e got a huge trunk and useable back seat. One of the most fun cars I ever drove was an early Z4 with the small engine. The chassis was so nice with a low powered engine that liked to rev, daily driving made you feel like a race car driver having to keep the revs up in simple right hand turns. Similar to the MGA with a B engine.

I just converted my M to a manual from SMG... I鈥檓 going to miss that transmission on the race track.

Check out the size of the intercooler

934 and Chevron. I want that chevron.

So the S from the factory in black was not with grey lowers.

These drive like a dream.

Count the doors... I鈥檓 in love

I鈥檇 that

Series 3 are ugly? I far say these are prettier then series one coupes.

Rare rare In the US

Yumm

Love the engine choice here

68 IMSA racer. So many cool things about this one. It could be converted from
Short to long wheelbase with one off rear fenders.

I get to see this bad boy driving around my hood a few times a year.

The Solstice coupe came out about the same time as Pontiac was cancelled, so they stopped production and whatever was in the pipeline was it. Great cars - I have mine set up with a few mods to both chassis and engine (now sitting at 375 bhp and 375 Tq, which is pretty good from a 2 liter). Gets 30+ mpg and also can get into the 12s in a 1/4.

That MGA race car has an engine I created - 1950 cc instead of 1588 and around 175 bhp instead of 108. Fun race car - have had it since 1970.

The BMW Z4M is going to be the last ever naturally aspirated M car. 340 bhp @8,000 rpm is just so much fun even if you only use it all once in awhile. The six speed is excellent and the trunk will take at least 4 cases of wine, unlike the Solstice!

Too many hobbies, too little time.

7800 rpm redline 馃槈 mines 7900 馃槈 no S54b32 left the factory with an 8k redline, no matter what we owners say 馃槈

That engine though... pure glory to drive one. One day I hope to drive a Weissman so I can say I鈥檝e driven all 3 cars with that motor.

You are correct - the fuel cut starts at 7900. I had thought that the CSL might be 8K but it is also 7900.

I have a bit more than N. American output but not quite European, due to exhaust revisions on mine that also sound really, really nice. Pretty sure the neigbours do not welcome this.....
