Say - can any of you vintage car fanciers identify this one? I can only assume it's a Mercedes-Benz as it was taken in Berlin in the late 20s.

This is for Stuart...

930 Speedster W/O whale tail
I don't think that's a 930... I think it is a 911 with a M491 option aka the widebody or turbo look package. Most speedsters have this option, the 930 engine and suspension was never placed into the speedster body. In fact of the 2000 plus or so Speedsters only about 170 had the narrowbody.

Nice find though!

Hard to say... so many people did bodies on these things, and the ones from the factory where pretty much all customs. Your going to need to find a picture of pretty much the exact same car and match it up, or someone will have to be a specialist in prewar German cars to ID it. There are some things that make me think it is a later car from the early 30's though... The vent integration into the hood does point to in house Mercedes circa 1930, it could be a w08 mercedes. https://translate.google.com/transl...ps://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_W_08 as already noted

It can't be from the early 30s because my great-grandfather (sitting in the back seat; I've shown his Lange pocket watch) died in January 1930. I think it might be a type Mannheim but I've yet to find any lights like those over the spare tire. It's not terribly important.

Look at MB 460's

This car embodies my favorite entry-level supercars just after I graduated high school and just before they started using railroad ties for bumpers. Plus it is reliable as a rock and is on warranty. 1973 Pantera L ,1973 Dino 308 GT4...
and now, 40 years later....2013 Camaro 2LT RS

You get a lot of car for £40k ($55,000) seriously quick & sticks to the track (Nurburg Ring) like glue

This is outstanding, both the car, and the late narrator/driver, David E. Davis, Jr.

Unfortunately no HD.

I wouldn't call it sexy but a 46,9 liter V12 BMW aircraft engine from 1925 mounted on an American LaFrance car from 1908 has his charms:

Here's my beast. Belonged to my wife's grandfather, recently had it restored, back on the road after sixty years in the garage (really!)

Great vid of Magnus Walker and his 911 on the mostly deserted streets of LA. No commentary, just the soothing sound of the 911.

Magnus at his best ! Perfect Sound, the Editors Must have tanken a Page from the Book of the Getaway in Stockholm guys. I'm sure Most of you will remember this:

Dodge Tomahawk: Viper V10 engine in a "motorcycle." It actually runs, but it doesn't like curves.

I currently drive this...

So the M2 will be a nice step up in power over the 128. Besides I miss having an M in the stable...

I just hope they haven't overdone the steering. My wife's 2015 335 feels more disconnected than any BMW I've ever driven (we have owned 9 between us and driven many more)...at least when it's not in sport mode.

Cheers, Al

Got talking to the owner of this beauty earlier today and he told me the history of the car and manufacturer.
It was made by SS Cars of Coventry and is an SS100 with the 100 referring to the top speed. Following the end of the Second World War and the Nazi connotations of the initials SS the company then changed their name to Jaguar.

SS was originally Swallow Sidecars. First sidecars for motorbikes, then sporting bodies for "common" cars like the Austin 7, then complete sports cars like the SS100, then Jag.
