1976 straight line 6 CJ5 Levi Pkg. Original but for the top, stored the original side mount spare carrier.

Dad bought it with a few thousand miles on it in 1977, still go camping in it but always have had a dovetail car hauler to get it to and from the house. Passed it on to my nephew.

DirtFish (rally school in the American Pacific Northwest) has been sharing photo galleries from the 2001 WRC season. These photos of the now-forgotten Focus from Sweden and Portugal respectively, really caught my eye:

I always particularly liked the bright, colorful livery of the '01 McRae / Grist Focus...

Colin McRae. Now there is a name I have almost forgotten.
He also drove one of my favorite Ferrari race cars in LeMans in 2004.

But of course who of age could ever forget this...

Such a pretty design, the 550/575 really has aged into the Daytona of the 2000s

I remember seeing the Prodrive 550 Maranellos at Laguna Seca. Must have been 7:30 in the morning beer in hand and those guys were warming their engines just like the beginning in the video. Absolutely ear splitting. Also had the sponsors attractive ladies handing out cookies for breakfast. Miss Meringue is what they apparently were. Must have had too much because I remember them being Mrs Fields.

Speaking of beers in the morning (cracks Bud heavy)...Sebring is this weekend. Another year goes by where I will not be attending.
Anyone else going or at least going to watch on TV?

I've never liked Sebring, though I usually try to watch it anyway. And that is usually thwarted, because it almost always coincides with one of the first nice Saturdays to go out in New York - and with tomorrow's weather report, this year looks to be no different.

Haven't been terribly interested in sportscar racing lately anyway though; I'm waiting for GT3 to become the main spec. Prototypes have bored me for years, especially the DPi spec. So I haven't been watching IMSA at all these past two years or so, since those are all the camera operators ever seem to want to feature :/

Can't find video of them, but I'm pretty sure I have some hearing loss after seeing this Courage C65 Mazda (rotary) at Lime Rock 2005.

Doesn't look like much, and as a P2 machine not much attention was paid to it anyway, but my ears hurt just thinking about it.

Yes, but slip back a quarter of a century and feast your eyes (and your ears too) on a truly sexy Ferrari sports racing car: the 312PB:

Rented this for some track time today, was surprisingly fun but I have a lot to learn switching from motorcycle racing!

Meaning what, 912?
That's it!

I have never ridden in a 911 but have in a 912 -- in Germany 1966. After taking the photos I did some gurgling and found that the 912 outsold the 911 2:1 in the mid-1960s.

I was the custodian of a '66 912 for about 3 years for a friend who was overseas. My duty was to drive it once or twice a month.

I loved that car. T'was a sad day when I returned it.
