Wow. Two great examples of the early versions of the watches. They are perfect companion pieces. When and where did you get them? Are they getting a lot of time on your wrist? And what part of the world are you in. I'm in Los Angeles. Who works on your watches? I have two places I can recommend.

I've bought and sold my way through a lot of Rolexes in the last 20+ years...and the models I have made my keepers are the 1013 and 1018.
I go back and forth from straps to bracelets depending on what I'm doing. I just got a wonderful version of a 1967 (folded steel) stainless steel Jubilee to be the sometimes bracelet for my 1018. There is a woman on eBay I have been buying from for years...very honest...and she has a great supply of vintage bracelets. If you are ever looking for one, give me a yell and I'll send you a link.

Regards,
John

Here is a pink gold early 1012 (smooth bezel version of the 1013). Like a fool, I sold it, but it was a beauty. The case edges were worn from years of hands passing over it, like instruments on an old ship.

My 1018 was a ‘67 based on the caseback, I have a set of alpha hands and I am going to try them out on it.

So, I have a few 1002s, a 1018 and 1016. I think a 1002 fits me better than the 1018 and tend to prefer wearing one.

And I still prefer my 1016 over the 1018. I fell in love with the dial the first time I saw it and still feel that way about it, even though the 1018 has an amazing glossy black dial that I enjoy.

(But, if I’m honest, I no longer feel comfortable wearing it, given how much they’re going for these days. 🙁 I never thought I’d get to that point, as I've owned it for 35 years, loved it and worn it more than any other single watch I own. I’d be heartbroken if something happened to it and probably couldn’t afford to replace it.)

(My 1018 is from 1969 and has later (correct) service hands hands and dial.)

wow that 1018 with dauphine hands is just sublime!

Really nice. I may have to revisit a Day-Date in my future. Right now I am struggling with what brought me to this Omega Forum. I have always admired Omegas...and owned a few very nice ones in my watch years. I bought two recently, only to almost immediately trade one plus some cash to buy a Rolex I really wanted. And while I am looking at several nice vintage Omegas...Seamasters and Constellations...none has moved me to pull the trigger. While, at the same time, I have come across another Rolex that I like...more than either of the Omegas. I also find that the money I would spend on the Rolex, I have so far balked at spending on an Omega. The most recent Constellation I owned was really very nice, on a beads of rice bracelet, non-date, very classic. But it always felt "light" when I put it on...it never felt as solid as my Rolexes. Is this some psychological BS I'm going through or am I just not looking at the right models.
