I was looking at purchasing this older seamaster online however I’m having trouble identifying if it’s authentic, it seems like it to me but can never be too sure. Any help?
Many thanks

All of these photos are correct for a Seamaster Pro 300M Diver Ref 2531.80 automatic, so if you receive what is shown in those photos it should be fine.

Thank you, the seller wants £580 for it so I thought it seemed too good to be true but would you recommend?

Seller also states it has no original box or warranty card and is battery operated

You stared it’s correct for an automatic, apparently it’s battery operated so does this mean it is a fake?

The automatics have four lines of text on the lower halve of the dial, quartz have tree lines and lack the word "chronometere".

The photos are definitely of an automatic not a quartz due to the word chronometer on the dial

The numbers tell @dsio ‘s story, your seller tells a different story.

If it was me, I would believe @dsio, with the caveat that you may be dealing with an idiot seller who does not know what he has.

You need to chose, what do you know of the seller?
It has been said on here many times “buy the seller”.

The seller doesn’t seem to know much when I ask for details I have to be very specific or they are confused or give me the wrong information to what I have asked, for the price does it seem like I should buy it? As long as you believe it is authentic?

Would you say the watch seems authentic? And is it a good deal at just over £500 I’d just like to get a couple of opinions before I purchase as no use in having a fake watch for that price

I think you have been given good information in this thread. Now you need to use your own judgement and common sense.

I am new to watch buying / collecting so I’m not entirely sure as this is a new experience to me hence why I am asking on forums as with all these replicas or fakes I have been warned about it is all rather confusing, I just need some opinions as to whether or not it seems authentic

@dsio has answered your question twice. More opinions are not needed.

You need to use common sense about whether you are being scammed. We are not buying the watch, you are.

Th watch in the pictures looks genuine, however, it is different to what the seller is describing as that is an automatic and the seller mentions having the battery changed. Automatics don’t have batteries.

The price is below market value for a genuine watch. If you get the watch in the pictures it’s a very good deal. You have to decide for yourself the risk:reward ratio here and whether its worth it.

Where are you buying this watch from? If it's eBay, then the authentication option would be very useful in confirming what the seller is showing with their description. Anyone can post pictures of a watch to sell. However, a huge red flag is if the seller description conflicts with what he shows, especially if it seems too good to be true. The only time where I bought something that was better (seller didn't know what he had) and described differently was a seller on eBay that had 100% positive feedback selling many items. I would never buy from a seller that I didn't know the selling history, especially if the info given conflicts.

The seller’s description says “ Omega seamaster 300 diver 39-42 mm Very good condition Omega
Excellent condition. Original. Without box and papers. Certificate of authenticity. Purchased on Chrono 24 from a certified dealer.” so it matches the items, for example the watch and fact is has no box but has papers from a dealer, I’m just not too sure what to look for in terms of the watch being real

People already replied that the watch looks real. Whether or not you get the watch shown in the pictures is another matter and no one can verify that for you.

Definitely a fake as per dsio's comment.

No, dsio stated that the pictures are of a Seamaster Pro 300 automatic and not quartz per what the seller stated. The watch in the picture is not fake. What the seller is selling may be.

Ask for a picture of the watch with the time set to an exact specific time to prove they have the watch. Then ask yourself why they are selling it for 25% of the market value.

What everyone is telling you is this is a scam.

Tiny chance they are significantly under pricing and misdescribing it and you are getting a crazy bargain. I'd literally prefer to take a bet on a rolling a six, think the odds are alot better
