Everything looked OK to me apart from the bezel and that is no problem at all really 👎

My reply to Achim was regarding the orange hands coming out of Vietnam.
Meaning, if a Speedmaster has a orange hand but doesn't have a 2607xxxx serial, archive or satin dial I would steer clear as the orange hand could now mean nothing if the rest of the criteria is not met for the Ultraman. 👍

The Ultraman auction watch looked like a lovely one to me apart from the bezel which isn't a big thing really if you are buying such a watch.
My question regarding "what am I missing?" is because noob tax was mentioned a couple of times, I thought the price paid was very reasonable compared to others I have seen for sale/sold.
If I have missed something I am always glad to learn.

Ha okay, you already understood that I read your post from a totally different perspective, my bad 😉

Back to your Why, in my humble opinion, that dial has been relumed and it doesn’t have the satin hue an ultraman should have. And on top of that the orange hand is def too short.

So to bring it back to an original spec, you’d need to find a correct dial, à correct sweeping hand, a DON bezel and probably another set of hour and minute hands as that hour hand’s color also looks very artificial to my eye. All in a comparable condition, to build something that looks homogeneous. This sum of parts + the efforts & Time to unearth them made me feel that was a heavy noob tax for the buyer. Hope he will not bother and will love his watch as is.

I had 4 Ultraman watches in my possession over time plus a good handful I could have in my hands here and there so maybe my eye had a different training or may well be I am wrong here which I would be happy to accept 😀

Hopefully we will get to see better, clearer photos of the watch in future.
It still looks good to me but if I am wrong I will never admit it, I will pretend my username was hacked or my 10 year old son was posting on my behalf 😁
