AT small seconds not what I hoped

I'm not a fan of small seconds complications, but I'm a fan of the Aqua Terra. If I was a fan of both its hard to imagine I wouldn't like this watch. What didn't float your boat about it?

That AT dial is way too busy. Needs to be simpler and more classic. Here’s my 1954 Seamaster 2759 with small seconds.

Agreed, just looks like it's trying too hard to me. I mean I kind of get the curved lugs, sharks tooth markers and broad arrow hands as the design direction, but then it's (to me) totally confused by the horizontal textured dial, over-emphasised minute track, knurled crown, small seconds sub dial with, last but not least, a date at 6 window.

In my role as resident pedant, a small/sub seconds dial isn't a complication - but a central seconds hand is.

+1 Exactly this. It's the post-Manhattan Constellation of ATs. If you, er, see what I mean.

I'd love to see a version without the date window, and one that was thinner as well.

Duly noted 👍

I like a small seconds but it's a bad idea to overlay the date on it. The date needs to be moved back to 3 or dropped altogether.

Without the date it just may have worked for me if I was after a new piece 🤔

I like the white face that doesn’t have a thick color ring around the small seconds. It doesn’t look so crowded.

I may be bias as I own the 41mm green AT, but I do not find the minute track crowded at all.

I can't get past the date window sitting in the small seconds sub-dial. I want to like it with the date window at 6 o'clock, but I just cant.

Also, definitely agree this watch could stand to lose 2mm in thickness.

Just felt/looked a tad effeminate. But that’s maybe because I’ve been wearing a Seamaster 300m for a year and a Speedmaster reduced for a decade prior to that.

Interesting to note that I was offered a discount of £500 on the spot without even asking.

I think a date at 6 works only with a central seconds hand....Omega's design department used to get it no problem 😉

Total grail watches on the left and right with the gold bracelets. Nice!

I got light blue dial and I am over the moon. I know it's not everyone's cup of cake, but it spoke to me from the first sight. Then I saw these two at Omega boutique in Zurich just after release:

And I just could not sleep for the next couple of weeks, especially after seeing the blue one. I have a few blue watches before, including two blue AT's and one blue GM -> every time the blue is very dark and you can see the colour only in very strong light, otherwise it all looks black or dark grey.

Here the blue is always blue with just hints of grey, which I love, and the sunbrushing is awesome. White circles around small seconds and the full dial (stepped, 3-dimensional by the way) just give an extra kick to how the watch look, comparing to very conservative (but still beautiful) standard centre seconds.

Here below videos of the blue one in natural & sunlight -> the dial pops.

So, unless you are really not fond of the design as such (and this is just a matter of taste, no discussion here if someone is right or not) - then the SS version is the way to go.

I agree. I think that he would be less annoying if he gives us those three watches and any others that he has that are in similar condition. 😀
