I also didn't like the fluted bezel so I have this one coming in soon. This model has pretty good magnetic resistance as well; better than most other Rolex models.

And a 70 hour power reserve!!

I'm considering buying a Migauss Z-Blue if I find the right price. I'm not treating this as a collector watch, it's a wearer, so I'm looking at cheap watch-only deals on eBay and elsewhere (I'd take a box and papers, but only at the right price). What, if anything, should I look to avoid here? Or should I just buy anything without hideous scars if the price is right?

Here are photos of a couple of the cheapest examples on eBay for you to critique:

Thank you!
Back to topic. How much is this one on Ebay? My tip is to find something used but maybe not too banged up, since it's anyway is going to be worn and not a safe queen. I picked up mine at a local pawn shop last year and it was pretty scratched up...

It's obviously been worn (or run over?) by the previous owner. 150 bucks of polishing later and it looks brand new. The only flaw is that the crystal has a small chip and cannot be sourced outside of Rolex/AD. So look out for scratched/chipped crystals, almost everything else on the case/bracelet can be refurbished.

What's he done to that bracelet?
Mines 3 years old and been worn a lot , and it's nothing like as bad as that.

Here is one coming up at Christies, with a reasonable estimate (so far!)

https://onlineonly.christies.com/s/...lex-milgauss-blue-dial-ref-116400gv-107/83185

The estimates are always low to encourage bidding. They have a white dial Daytona with the low estimate at $10,100. Plus with this auction you’ll get hit with a 20% buyers premium and then shipping/taxes/customs from Hong Kong to your house. It’s worth monitoring but I’d keep expectations for a deal low

These watches were about $7K each. [here's one of them]. I ended up buying a basically new watch (< 2 months old), full set with warranty for a few hundred dollars more; I found it on another forum.

I am just writing to encourage you to get a Milgauss. They are just great all around watches. And as said earlier, the scratches show up in photos but not in real life, and the polished centre links are not so different from the brushed ones in real life....I do wish it had a date though...

I know people say this but I don’t get it. The “cheaper movement” is an improved version of the 3130 that’s in the Sub no-date and explorer. If you need a watch that can go 4000ft deep in the Ocean, Rolex has you covered. If you need a watch that has 1000 gauss magnetic resistance for working in a particle accelerator, Rolex has you covered. I’m not sure which movement would make people happy? It’s a non-date, non-chrono, superlative chronometer movement, wrapped in a faraday cage.

The Explorer uses the 3132, not the 3130.

I believe it does now but prior to 2018 I believe the explorer used the 3130, no?

If the the crystal is only damaged in the outside Rolex does not charge much for a new one. Under 200 bucks. If it is damaged on the inside they do charge an Armand a leg because they service the whole movement in case any crystal dust got into it. I know because that’s what happened with my DJ blue .

I love this model. This was my first DJ and love it so much I got it in blue too. Perfect simple watch.
