I apparently have a chapter around me too.
Has anybody done this and what does an organization like this really offer in return for annual dues?
I stumbled across their national convention a few years ago. Yes, I know, you wouldn't think this is something you stumble across but nonetheless I was driving by a convention center and saw the sign. Stopped in..it was not a public event...members only, but the lady at the front desk took pity on me when she saw my sad face longing for more of the view I could only see a glimpse off (or it could have been my dashing good looks and charisma). For whatever reason she let me in, 100,000sqft of timekeeping splendor(now you have an idea where I'm from...metric system...phooeey!). Ah, I can recall the smell of metal polish, oil, and little old men with eyepieces(imagine the keymaker from the Matrix movie). That was the moment, that was the place, where it all came together, where I caught this wonderful disease to follow the wonderful world of watch collecting. A veritable sea of timekeepers (oddly none with the correct time). The passion they held for their art, the designers of novel and miraculous forms of timekeeping. I can picture that event clearly even today.
Hook, line and sinker.
Many NAWCC marts are open to non-members, on the Saturday of the convention.
