How the f#@k does it remind us to breathe. The author is a pelican

“However, thanks to a few additions, it is also a solid standalone health device. It measures our heart rates and reminds us to breathe.”

“ It spits out water like a sea anemone and sloughs mud and dirt like a smooth stone. It is as far from a watch as possible, which is why it is the last watch most of us will wear.”

Apple watch has its purpose. It's a modern day tool watch. Wasn't Submariner and Seamaster tool watches when they first came out?

My thought here is why wear something my phone can do? Which is in opposition to the people who dint wear watches "why wears something my phone can do". Watches are not only beautiful pieces of art and a tool, but also an expression of personality.

Most people that I know that wear an Apple Watch mainly use it as a step counter and occasionally reply to text messages, which I think is hard to do given the limited screen space

I make and take a lot of calls and texts while working. In most cases I'm knuckles deep in grease or crawled into a tight spot. The smart watch is very convenient. As for text replys, theres quick responses that you can just tap and have a message sent. But honestly it's more of a toll to weed out what needs to be responded to and what doesn't without going into my pocket.

You can use “hey Siri” on Apple watch 3 or 4 to answer/send texts, make calls or open applications if you don’t want to type or integrate with the small screen. Of course some don’t want to start talking to their watch which I completely understand...
