The case architecture is off the hook.
Might have posted this “Doug Corrigan”, a.k.a aeronaut “Wrong Way Corrigan”, sometime in the past
Everyone has complimented this watch but no one has yet called dibs, so I guess it's up to me. I call dibs!
That's a gorgeous watch.
Thanks for the compliment. Dibs duly noted.
Anyone not familiar with the story of the watch’s namesake, aviator Doug “Wrong Way” Corrigan, should Google him for an entertaining read about this early pioneering aviator, and apparently all around “stick it in your ear” American yahoo. Fun story about his historic flight from NY to CA in which his first stop after NY was Ireland.
Corrigan was far to skillful to make mistake of accidentally flying to Ireland, and he had been stymied for years in his attempt to legally make a transatlantic flight. I can't say that I blame him for making his "mistake."
I love the history Bulova had with early aviation. This watch and the original Lone Eagle are beautiful commemorative watches.
Not Art Deco, but artistically decorated, another Bulova tribute to aviation, the 1949 "Aeronaut".
Merry Christmas to all. May you never lose a child's wonderment of the day's magic.
Cheers!
Oklahoma is home to the only Frank Lloyd Wright skyscrapper, the Price Tower in Bartlesville. It was built in the 50s, but you can still see some Art Deco influences in it. Unfortunately, the day I took these photos it was closed so there are no interior shots of it.
I’d love a Maltese Falcon
