    Bought it as non-working, nice to see that it actually ticks and the chrono works. :) Going off to service soon.

    This arrived this afternoon. Blurry pictures on the bay, took a punt and made an offer which was accepted.
    Crappy iPad pic, sorry.

    The chocolate dial and green on the base of the pushers look very unique together! :eek:

    I agree that Wakmann is underrated. Right now I am tempted by this one, but its a bit loud and colourful.

    Thank you. Difficult to figure out the value though, with so little reference around.

    That's true. I think they are uncommon enough to hold some value, but I wouldn't be able to say exactly..

    I think there was a connection between Breitling and Wakmann at some point. Maybe someone here knows more?

    And so it arrived. One piece of advice: AVOID eBay Global Shipping if you can! It is slow, and they "repack" the item. In this case it meant leaving the watch floating unprotected in a pile of shredded paper...... At least it seems that it did not take any severe damage from it (this time).

    As I expected it is a CHRO27 (aka Omega 321) inside. LWO Lemania caliber 2520 is the precise designation. marturx owns one as well.... Albeit in NOS stock condition, whereas this one surely is not!

    The Meylan name is interesting since Marius Meylan was the CEO of Lemania (he married old man Lurgin´s daughter) and took over Lemania in the late 1920s. The same Meylan was granted a seat at the board of SSIH (Omega/Tissot/Lemania) during the merger in 1932. He held that position for more than 40 years!
    If one studies the names of his ancestors one find Piguet and leCoultre amongst other known watchmaking family names.
    A related Meylan was also acting as importer of Lemania watches to the US. Not uncommon that the Swiss sent someone close over to the US in order to set up subsidiaries there in order to dodge import taxes. The autobiography of Jack Heuer also tells of a similar Heuer arrangement.
    I am a bit at a loss as to the exact reason for the Meylan dial on this. It has a Lemania serial number and case reference number, but have been stamped AXJ and Meylan StopWatch Company on the movement bridge. Lemania (LWO) and the caliber number 2520 is seen under the balance.

    It will need some clean up and a service, but I am very pleased so far!
    ::psy::

    HAGWE!
